Ship Your Car To Or From Vinh, Vietnam

Vinh is the largest city as well as the economic and cultural center of the north-central coast of Vietnam. It is the capital of Nghệ and is the main focus for linking Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and of course Vietnam together.

If you plan to move to Vinh from the United States, or if you plan an extended visit, you may want to prepare your vehicle and bring it with you to Vietnam as well. Using your own means of transportation to get around can mean reduced delays in morning traffic when you are going to work or school. It can also decrease the chance of getting stuck somewhere or get off the wrong location due to the language barriers.

If you intend importing your car from the United States, it can be as simple as importing your household goods. If you plan to make your move permanent, you will most certainly enjoy the freedom of driving yourself. As with anything, there are rules and regulations that you will need to follow. You will need to ship your vehicle from a port in the United States to the port located in Vinh. Using a transport company like A-1 Auto Transport Service to handle the small and large issues of importing will reduce your stress and make your import more successful. They can even help you gather up all the documents that will be needed along the way.

Specific Motor Vehicle Laws and Requirements

Your vehicle will need to be in your name for a minimum of six months prior to you scheduling your import. It must also be driven over 10000 kilometers prior to shipment. Your vehicle cannot be any more than five years old. The duty will be at a rate of 100% the vehicle value when importing to Vietnam. Your vehicle must be a left hand drive only vehicle. No vehicle will be allowed to be imported if the vehicle has been owned by you for less than six months or you purchased it used.

Everyone transporting a vehicle into Vietnam will need to pay some amount of taxes and duties. However, the exception to this rule is if you are a diplomat. There are duty free import exemptions available for diplomats coming into the country.

Documents and Paperwork to Submit

Before you begin the process, you will want to gather up all the necessary documents so you can refer to them throughout the paperwork and you can submit the necessary paperwork with your application. Make a copy of these documents unless you are asked for the originals:

  • Drivers license
  • Your passport
  • A copy of your title
  • Registration card
  • Proof of insurance
  • Ocean Bill of Lading, OBL
  • Import permit

Freight Shipment Options

To determine the cost of your vehicle, our shipping agent will ask you the following questions:

  • What is the size of your vehicle?
  • How much does your vehicle weigh?
  • What is the make of your vehicle?
  • What is the model of your vehicle?
  • What shipping option do you prefer?

This is important to answer to get the most accurate quote so that you can budget accordingly. There are two shipping options available for you. These options include:

  • Roll On/ Roll Off shipping method: This method is the most affordable way to ship your vehicle. You will be able to keep only the floor mats, spare keys, a spare tire, and a car jack. All air conditioning gases will need to be removed prior to shipping and you will need to leave only 1/4 tank of gas in the gas tank. Your vehicle will need to be steam cleaned to remove any debris before it can be loaded onto the ship deck. Once it is ready for transport, it will be driven onto the deck of the ship using ramps. Once it is parked in a bay, it will be harnessed down on the deck for the trip. Although the vehicle will be exposed to weather and harsh elements on the open deck of the ship, it will save you money to use this method.
  • Container shipping method: The most expensive way to ship a vehicle is through container shipping. With this method, you will choose a 20 feet or 40 feet containers. Once your vehicle is loaded in the container, it will then be hoisted up onto the deck of the ship for transport. It will be strapped down prior to the ship leaving the port. While on the trip, your vehicle will be completely protected by anything that could cause damage to your vehicle otherwise.

“I though taking my car to Connecticut was going to be the most difficult part of the move. And until I found Joe and A1 Auto Transport, it was. Fortunately, from that point forward it was handled flawlessly. A month ago, I tried a website which promised to find me a company with great rates. More than a dozen carriers took me up on the offer, so I chose the one that was the cheapest. Instead of showing up, he called on the shipping date to tell me his truck is getting repairs. I waited 2 more days before finally cancelling the order. I lost a week pointlessly, and my family and I were supposed to move 2 weeks later. I searched some more and chose a broker with a seemingly good reputation. After a week of waiting, I finally stopped waiting for him to find me a truck. Finally, a work colleague to which I was complaining about the situation, recommended A1 Auto Transport. He’d used them in the past and recommended them with a β€˜thumbs up.’ I called Joe that same day. He told me it was peak shipping season. Some companies, instead of telling you they’re full, may choose to simply let you wait in case one of their other clients cancels. Fortunately, he had a truck available, and he sent it my way immediately. In a couple of hours, my car was on its way to Connecticut.”

“To whom it may concern: I currently work out of the Auto Driveaway Co - Atlanta, Georgia location. At this moment I would like to take this time to say "THANK YOU" to one of your representatives Ms. Cherie Morse. Repeatedly she has presented herself ( and a reflection on A1 Auto Transport ) to be quite capable to me - promptly answering my questions ( mostly quotes @ competitive rates ) and assisting me in tracking down those trucking movements - done in the past. Unlike other companies wherein I get a "machine" and MIGHT get an answer back that day - Even with her voice mail, her response is immediate and for the want of nothing else, I wanted someone to know at A1 Auto Transport that I "at least" sincerely appreciate all her efforts. Thank you again. Sincerely, Phillip Raila Auto Driveaway Company, Atlanta”

“Last year I wanted to ship my car to Alaska. I researched several companies online and got more and more discouraged after reading the reviews. It seemed I had to expect the worse, and I was getting a bit paranoid. Thank God I found A1 Auto Transport. Many of its reviews praised the team’s responsiveness and speed. I didn’t want to waste time pointlessly, so this caught my attention. I got quotes from several companies, but went with A1 in the end. It was a pleasure to work with Joe. He kept his word, answered all my questions, got a truck at my door the next day, and updated me on my car’s status throughout the process. He was very professional. Any questions I had, he answered them fully. This really helped clear the fog in my head. The company was attentive to weather and road conditions, so my vehicle arrived in Alaska on time and intact. They had to make a small detour at one point due to an accident up ahead. They informed immediately. Even so, the car still arrived at the expected time.”

“I recently contacted your company regarding the transport of a car I had purchased in South Dakota and needed brought to Okalahoma. First of all your quoted price was half that of your nearest competition, secondly the actual transport took only a few days and finally your driver couldn't have been more professional. Thanks for the value and quality of service. If you ever need a reference I'm your guy. Regards, Walt Thompson”

“Thanks A1 Auto Transport! You’re the best! To start with the beginning… Finding an auto transport company willing to ship a car the very next day is quite tricky. Who knew? I ended up calling for hours till I finally found one. Of course, their quote was out of proportion, so I left them hanging. After another half hour of making calls and waiting for quotes, I got in touch with Joe through the number on his website. I explained to him my situation, what happened with the other guy, and he politely asked me to wait 2 minutes while he checked to see if any of his trucks were available. To my luck, there was one passing through Wisconsin that very same day. He quickly calculated a quote for the transport, and it was more than reasonable. Later that day, a truck came by and picked up my Civic. This could have been a disaster if not for Joe and A1. I was already considering leaving the car with my mother. I hope this review gets you a million clients!! You deserve every last one.”
