President & Founder
Tony Taylor started A-1 Auto Transport when he purchased his first tow truck because he knew he could do it better. Over the last two decades, Tony has become an industry veteran and is an individual that many companies in this industry lean upon for his vast expertise. To this day, Tony is still active in the day-to-day operations of A-1, always stepping in to solve new challenges as they arise.
Director of Marketing
Joe Webster has done it all at A-1 Auto Transport. While he started as a truck driver, he climbed the ranks, serving as a sales lead, worked customer service, and eventually became the companies director of marketing. Through his years with the company, Joe has mastered the auto shipping process, and is the go-to source when it comes to the moving process.
Accounting & Customer Service
Sheree has worked with the company since 2011 making sure the company's financial records are inline and customers are taken care of. She currently manages the customer service staff.

We've done a little bit of everything in this industry dating back to 1988 where it all began in Watsonville, California. We started as a towing company with just a single truck doing 24 hour emergency shipping and roadside assistance. We expanded until we had a fleet of trucks, operating in various parts of California. We purchased our first auto transport carrier in 1992, and by 1995 we owned over 50 carriers who moved vehicles across the country.
We grew fast, and in 1998 we realized we had more demand than we could service with the trucks we had. This led us to get ourselves into the brokering side of the business as well, using our extensive knowledge of the industry and partnerships we'd obtained over the years with high character companies who share the same goals as us.
These days we do it all to help get your shipment where it needs to be as fast, affordably and effectively as possible. If we can't effectively handle your shipment ourselves, we'll refer you to other high character, licensed and bonded shippers who all go through a rigorous screening process before they are allowed to be accepted into our network.
Timeline Of Our History
- 1988 - Tony Taylor purchases his first tow truck in Watsonville, California.
- 1992 - A-1 Auto Transport purchases its first auto transport carrier.
- 1995 - The company increased its fleet to 50 auto transport carriers.
- 1997 - Opened our first international office.
- 1998 - Started our own brokerage firm as well as referral service to handle certain shipments that we could not ship ourselves.
- 2000 - Expanded internationally to service Asia, Europe, and other locations.
- 2004 - Established a preferred list of vetted carriers.
- 2008 - We reached milestone of helping in over 500,000 shipments.
- 2010 - Joined the EPA’s Smartway Program.
- 2011 - Became cars.com 'official shipper'
- 2018 - Celebrated our 30th anniversary, having serviced nearly every country in the world.
