Bar is a seaport city in the southern regions of Montenegro. It is also the capital of the local municipality and a popular tourist hub. Located on the western shores of the beautiful Adriatic Sea, the city is approximately around 53 kilometers away from the capital of Montenegro – Podgorica.
If you intend to spend time in the country having your own vehicle is definitely going to be very helpful. You wouldn’t have to worry some of the concerns such as language barriers, currency exchange, and public transportation issues.
Thus, if you intend moving to the tropical paradise, it is best to look at the options that you have. Hiring taxis can turn out to be expensive if you are moving here on an extended stay and it might be better that you import your vehicle instead. With A1 Auto Transport always ready to assist you with international shipping, we will ensure that it is a breeze.
Methods of Shipping.
Now, there are quite a lot of different ways to ship a vehicle and it is best if you go for either a Roll-on/Roll-off or Container shipping. If you are on a tight budget then RORO is definitely your best bet. This is the cheapest way to ship over the sea and it is also the fastest. There are, however, some things that you would have to take into consideration. For instance, you wouldn’t be allowed to ship any other personal belongings apart from the car jack, spare tire and floor mats which can be left in the car. You have to empty out the fuel tank and leave only ¼ full. You should also get rid of all air conditioner gasses.
However, you can also go for the container shipping option. This is going to require you to choose between a 20ft and a 40ft container to store your vehicle within. Furthermore, you can also ship as many household goods or personal belongings with the container as you want. Of course, this is the more expensive sea-bound transportation method and it’s also slower but it gives you great value, especially if you have a lot of personal belongings to ship.
Regulations and Documentation.
You are going to reach out to the Montenegro Embassy in the USA if you want to get any additional information and to confirm that your vehicle is in fact eligible. The A1 Auto Transport service is going to make sure that you get an entirely free quote prior to your ship. Keep in mind that there is a VAT rate of 19% which is reduced to 7% and to 0% from the 1st of July, 2013.
Apart from that, you have to provide the U.S. Customs department with the following documents:
- Proof of ownership – driving license or passport.
- Receipts for paid taxes.
- Insurance certificate.
- Working visa.
- Proof of authorization for your residency.
- Title deed.
The owner has to be present upon the arrival of the vehicle and you have to get clearance from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection prior to shipping to Montenegro. After that, you also have to get clearance from the local customs department.
