Car Shipping FAQ’s
Auto transporters are asked many questions all the time. We have put together a few of the most asked questions and the answers that you need to know:
- Why do companies not guarantee a precise date of pickup or delivery? - While companies would love to be able to provide an exact date and time to every customer, this is unfortunately not usually possible to do. Times will vary depending on many factors including inclement weather, acts of God, traffic or accidents along the way and even other customers arriving late to drop off or pick up a vehicle. Most companies will allow a 2-3 day window and will generally call the customer around 24 hours before the driver plans to arrive.
- Will the vehicle owner need to be present when the car is loaded or unloaded? - Yes, vehicle owners need to be present as there will be an inspection completed and paperwork to sign to load and release the vehicle. If you own the vehicle and need to have someone else sign the paperwork for you, you will need to alert your agent beforehand so they will have the authorized person’s name in order to release the vehicle to them in your absence.
- Can I track my vehicle when it is being transported? - You will need to ask your agent if the company you are considering hiring offers any type of shipment tracking. Companies that provide GPS, satellite or other types of tracking services will usually have advanced technology on the trucks, well-maintained trucks and up to date staff members that can provide excellent information about your auto transport if you call to ask a question during transport. Tracking allows a customer a peace of mind during transport that they may not have otherwise as they can see precisely where the vehicle is at all times once it is picked up.
