- Look for an auto transport company with an office in Texas: Texas is large enough to find a company with an office actually in the state, which makes Texas auto shipping more affordable for you. Search around to see if you can find a company with an office in the state.
- Shop around for great rates: When you are shipping a car, rates are everything, particularly if you are relocating. The expense can already be so great; mitigate the overall cost by finding a Texas auto shipping company with great rates that work for your budget.

Long Distance Auto Transport to/from Texas
If you are planning to move to the state of Texas or to any other part of the United States, auto shipping services are generally superior to doing it yourself. Driving over long distances involves quite a bit of planning and a thousand mile drive is time-consuming and tiring. It also increases the car’s mileage and reduces its lifespan.
For professional long distance moving assistance, contact us and we will help you through the entire process. Our prices are reasonable, and we can transport your car to anywhere you need it, including outside the US.
International Auto Transport from/to Texas
A1 Auto Transport tries to keep international shipping as simple as possible. All you have to do is call our office and speak to one of our staff members. All the details can be agreed upon over the phone, saving both parties time.
After everything is settled, a driver will drop by on the agreed upon date to pick up your car and take it to the location you’ve chosen, regardless if that place is somewhere in the US or in Europe. Of course, international transportation is a bit more complicated than interstate, but we’ll take care of everything.
Cheap Car Transportation Options in Texas
One factor which greatly affects shipping costs is the location. It will be easier for you to find cheap auto transportation if you’re moving to a city since there tends to be more carriers heading towards them.
If you’re off route, a terminal to terminal service may also be unavailable. However, you should ask our personnel first. You may be able to use a terminal to door option or vice versa. This will lower your bill significantly.
Another thing you can do is ask for an open carrier. These are the most common type of auto carriers, and they’re cheaper to book as well.
A1 Auto Transport implements seasonal offerings during the colder part of the year to encourage potential customers, and we also have a few discounts you may qualify for. Call our staff for more details.
Shipping Luxury and Classic Cars in Texas
To transport a classic or luxury car to Texas, there are a few things to consider. Regular transportation services with an open carrier are perfectly safe and get the job done. However, there might be the occasional scratch or dent caused road debris and weather elements. If your car is especially valuable, you may also not want it travelling with 10 others, raising the chance of it being seen by potential thieves.
To avoid these problems, an enclosed carrier is recommended. The contents of the truck are kept secret, and neither the elements nor road debris can get near it. Exotic and antique cars can be transported alone, so they’ll arrive faster. Even if you transport multiple luxury vehicles, our white glove service will ensure they arrive safely.
Texas Special Discounts
Military personnel can ship a POV at a reduced price thanks to a special discount. Other discounts are offered to our student and senior clients, so they can afford the transport. If you’re not a senior, a student, or part of the military, you can cut costs significantly using our seasonal offerings. You may inquire about them over the phone.
Auto Transport Safety Measures in Texas
A1 Auto Transport goes to great lengths to ensure the safety of your vehicle. We inspect our carriers before each transport in case they need repairs. We check every car we transport to make sure it doesn’t have loose parts or leaks that may damage other automobiles.
Every route is carefully planned out, so your car will arrive as fast as possible and with no incident. At the drop-off point, you’ll be asked to verify its state before signing the final paperwork. If there’s anything wrong with it, let us know and we will compensate you.

Vehicle Registration Process in Texas
The basic steps you need to follow to register a car in Texas are as follows:
- Go to the county office for taxes;
- Complete a standardized form to apply for a title certificate;
- Submit proof of your car insurance, ownership, ID, and vehicle inspection;
- Pay the fee for registration and any other applicable fees and taxes.
Registration for New Residents
You get a grace period of 30 days to get your car inspected and also registered after moving to the state of Texas.
Go to the county office after you have purchased a vehicle insurance policy and performed a safety inspection on your car. Take note that when you go to the inspection station, you will need the insurance policy certificate.
To complete the registration, you will need to submit the following paperwork to the County Tax Office of Texas:
- A vehicle insurance policy;
- A certificate from the safety inspection;
- Paperwork proving you own the automobile;
- An application for a title certificate;
- Payment proof for the registration.
Vehicle Registration in Texas
After the purchase of any vehicle, you get 30 days to get it registered and inspected at the DMV office in Texas. To complete the registration process, submit the following documents to the tax county office:
- Proof that you own the vehicle;
- An ID card;
- A vehicle insurance policy;
- An application for a title certificate;
- An inspection certificate;
- Payment of the registration fees and other applicable taxes.
Please note that in the state of Texas it is possible to transfer the vehicle registration if you are selling your vehicle or if you’re buying a car from an individual.
Vehicle Inspections
In Texas, it is mandatory to subject your vehicle to annual emissions inspections and safety inspections. You can register your vehicle or renew your registration only if your car passed the requested inspections.
Multi-annual registration
If you buy a brand-new vehicle from a car dealership, you can opt for a multi-annual registration during the application for your first registration. Otherwise, all vehicles can be registered for one year, after which owners need to renew their registrations.
One sticker for two processes
The date of your vehicle’s registration coincides with the inspection date. This makes it easier for you to renew the paperwork, as both will expire simultaneously. Therefore, you won’t find yourself in an impossibility to register your vehicle because you don’t have your inspections up to date.
Additionally, you are obliged to display a single sticker on the car’s windshield, which will prove both the registration and the inspection, as opposed to being mandated to display two stickers as it was with the former law. At the time of your first registration, you will have to get the vehicle inspected before submitting for a registration, in order to receive the sticker.
Fees for Vehicle Inspections
At the moment of your vehicle inspection, you will have to pay a portion of the fee for the inspection towards the performing station. Afterwards, during the registration process at the DPS, you will pay the state tax related to the inspection, along with other applicable taxes, in order to complete the registration process.
The amount of money due to the state will vary depending on the type of inspection you require, the type of vehicle, and the county you reside in.
Car registration for military members
If Texas is not your state of residency, you’re not obliged to register your car at the Texas DMV. However, you must keep your certificate from the registration up to date to legally drive on the roads of Texas.
Fees for Car Registration in Texas
The amount of money due in registration fees varies according to the weight and type of vehicle. The amount of standard fees raises from mopeds and motorcycles at approximately $30, to cars and light pickup trucks at around $52, and up to $60 for vehicles weighing more than 6,000 lbs. but less than 10,000 pounds.
Some of the other applicable taxes due at the moment of registration include, but are not limited to, fees for the verification of the insurance policy, an automation fee, an inspection fee, a local fee, and a handling and processing fee.
Please note that the state of Texas will charge you a tax rate of 6.25% of the vehicle’s value. This tax will be paid together with the fees for registration, for titling, and for the local county if you purchase the vehicle from a private individual.
License Plates in the State of Texas
At the moment of registration, you get the possibility to choose between transferring the license plates of your previous vehicle and getting new plates.
Getting new plates in Texas
At your first registration, you will receive standard issued license plates. If you wish to replace them with personalized plates, you can make the change at the county office in Texas.
Transferring license plates
The transfer of your old license plates to a new vehicle is free in the state of Texas. You will be issued a different registration vehicle to place on the new car.
Stickers for Registration
The stickers issued for your vehicle registration feature the following information:
- The license plates number;
- The county where your automobile is registered;
- Parts of your VIN;
- The date of the registration.
You should place the sticker onto your car’s windshield.
The expiration date of the registration is the last day from the month mentioned on the sticker. You can benefit from a maximum period of five days of grace to renew your registration. If you surpass that period, you will be issued a fine.
