Safe And Reliable Oregon Car Shipping Services By A-1 Auto Transport
Part of the Pacific Northwest, Oregon has some of the more beautifully unspoiled coastlines in the country. Sitting alongside the coast of the Pacific Ocean, with the Columbia and Snake rivers winding throughout the state, Oregon offers plenty to do for both visitors and residents alike. To start, the state sits right in the middle of California and Washington State, which means that it’s about a day’s trip either down to the fun and lively offerings of Cali or the same in the other direction towards the funky and eclectic culture of Seattle. Much of the population of this state is centered in the Willamette Valley, which includes the state’s largest city of Portland.
Adventure enthusiasts can take on Mount Hood for a mountain climbing adventure or take in a Broadway-caliber show in Portland. Water-lovers can rejoice in access to the always stunning Pacific Ocean; in fact, some surfers swear by the breaks on the Oregon coast and wouldn’t deign to catch a wave anywhere else in the vicinity. Those moving to the state for good can take advantage of any number of relocation services, including Oregon auto transport. This ensures that to fully enjoy the state, you will have your car with you at all times. It gives you the mobility to really move around the state and experience everything that Oregon truly has to offer. There is plenty to see and do, so it’s well worth the investment to ship your car so that you can experience Oregon at its finest.

Using Oregon Car Transport Companies
When you are looking to book Oregon car transport services, keep a few key tips in mind.
- Inquire about accepted payment methods: The acceptable forms of payment may vary from company to company. Before you book services, inquire about the methods of payment the company accepts so that you aren't blindsided when it’s time to ante up money for services.
- Request GPS tracking of your vehicle: Some companies offer the option to track your vehicle through a specialty GPS signal on a secure website. If you are particularly skittish about your vehicle being tracked, then you might consider asking for this option, even if you incur another cost.
- Do inspection upon delivery of your vehicle: Upon delivery of your vehicle, make sure to inspect it first before the shipping company is released from the terms of your contract. Look for any blemishes in the paint, bumps or dents or anything else that didn’t exist on the vehicle before it was turned over for transport.
Visit the Oregon Department of Transportation website for more information on Oregon and the plentiful opportunities in which it can offer those visiting or relocating to the state.
Long Distance Auto Transport to/from Oregon

International Auto Transport from/to Oregon
Customs officials are notoriously difficult to get past. If you lack all the paperwork or fail to pay your taxes, the car will be detained and you will have to pay for its storage for as long as it’s held there.
To avoid this problem, it’s important you’re fully prepared the first time. Our staff will double check to make sure that is so. Your only job will be to discuss the details of your transport, so you’re completely satisfied with our service. We will offer and explain several options you can choose from, so feel free to pick whichever suits you best.
Cheap Car Transportation Options in Oregon
You car’s weight/size and the distance you want to transport it across are the biggest factors determining your auto shipping costs. However, especially for long distance auto transport, you’ll probably notice it’s just as cheap, if not cheaper to use an auto transport company than doing it yourself.
Costs can be further reduced using a terminal to terminal service instead of door to door. It saves our company time and money, so it’s a more affordable service.
Open carriers are similar in this aspect. Since they can carry more cars than enclosed trucks, the price of booking one is lower. There are also many more open carriers than enclosed ones available, so booking one is easier.
Finally, if you meet our criteria, you can use one of our discounts and our seasonal offerings to reduce costs further. You may ask about them over the phone.
Shipping Luxury and Classic Cars in Oregon
Transporting automobiles in an enclosed carrier is often the preferred method of transit for classic, antique, and exotic cars, because it provides a new level of security and attention while on the road. When moving such vehicles to Oregon, owners may choose between a single truck and a multi-car trailer. They may take advantage of additional features like soft tie straps to avoid scratches while securing the car, as well as hydraulic lift gates for safer loading and unloading. Our enclosed carrier drivers are experts in hauling expensive cars, and will offer email reports and phone updates of the cargo’s status.
Enclosed auto carriers lower the risk of potential auto theft and physical damage resulting from road and weather disturbances. They tend to also carry high insurance policy limits, though they’re more costly and challenging to book than open auto carriers. However if money isn’t an issue, then this car shipping method offers a highly secure environment for moving luxury and classic cars to and from Oregon.
Oregon Special Discounts
Since students have their loans to worry about, we’ve reduced their auto shipping costs to not overburden them. A1 Auto Transport also gives special discounts to senior citizens and to military members. If you wish to transport a car at a cheaper price, you can take advantage of our seasonal discounts too, available for all regardless of age or occupation. Call us directly for more details.
Auto Transport Safety Measures in Oregon
Each of our trucks is equipped with safety straps that lock cars in, so they cannot move and damage others. The surrounding beams act both as barriers against pebbles and other flying debris, as well as protection in case of an accident.
We inspect our carriers on a regular basis, so they’re all in good running condition. Furthermore, the routes we take are planned out in advance. Thanks to our experience, we can avoid bad roads or areas where accidents happen often.
How to Request a Price Estimate
A1 Auto Transport offers 2 main ways for clients to receive a quote: via direct phone call or by using our online form. Both of these options can be accessed immediately by scrolling to the top of this page. You can find them in the upper right corner.
If you’re going through multiple quotes trying to decide on the best company, you may want to use our online form. However, if you’d like the offer to take into account the particularities of your situation, calling may be better. Regardless of your choice, you’ll be satisfied with the result.

Military members who reside in the state of Oregon need to follow the same registration process as Oregon residents.
Military members (non-residents)

Vehicle Registration (Outside the State)
You have the option to mail the required documents stated above to register a vehicle, including a money order or check to pay for the registration, for the license plates, and for the title fees.
Make sure your present address (outside the state) is included so the Department of Motor Vehicles will be able to send your license plates and registration card. Save the Transaction Notice details on your application while waiting for the new registration paperwork.
Military members who are assigned to a different state have the option to mail the applications to register the vehicles and obtain license plates.
Fees Associated with Vehicle Registration
This state has standard title, license plate, and registration fees. It issues both 2-year and 4-year registrations.
Each vehicle with an Origin Certificate from its manufacturer will pay to cover a four year registration. Renewals and used vehicles which have four years of validity have the possibility of getting two year of validity. However, you must verify it with the local DMV station for the specific details.
If the car has an existing four year validity, it will automatically be switched to a two year validity upon renewal. Succeeding renewals will be issued a two years validity. The vehicle title fee is $93.
Vehicle Registration (Initial Fees)
- Light Trailers and passenger vehicles (2 year validity is $112).
- Mopeds and Motorcycles (2 year validity is $78).
- Electric motorcycles or Hybrid (2 year validity is $78).
- Vehicles with low-speed (2 year validity is $116).
You need to pay $19 each year as an additional fee if you plan to register your car in Multnomah.
A $7 inspection processing fee is also required if there is a need to have your VIN inspected.
An SUV or truck, which weighs more than 10,000 pounds, needs to be registered as a heavy autmobile. Vehicle registrations for heavy vehicles depend on their weight.
License plate charges
- The single plate (trailers, motorcycles, etc.) fee is $12.
- For two plates (trucks, cars, etc.), the fee is $24.
- The plate transfer processing fee is $6.
Requirements for Emissions Inspections
In the Medford or Portland areas, all vehicles are required to undergo an emissions inspection before the registration as per the instructions of the Environmental Quality Department.
- Portland-vehicles built after 1975 are required to undergo an emissions test.
- Medford-vehicles, which were built more than 20 years ago, are required to undergo an emissions test.
Exemptions on emissions inspections in Oregon
The Environmental Quality Department has implemented emissions testing only in Portland and Medford. Other cities are not required to have an emissions test. Aside from these cities, some vehicles are also exempted from testing:
- Diesel vehicles.
- Vehicles which are relatively slow.
- Vehicles manufactured before 1975.
- Vehicles manufactured 20 years ago.
If you have a vehicle outside of Oregon, and your residence is either in Portland or Medford, you may call the DMV for the requirements on emissions.
Requirements on vehicles with low emissions
Vehicles manufactured in 2009 and later models with no more than 7,000 miles on board need to comply with the requirements for low emissions vehicles. An origin certificate issued by the manufacturer is enough to prove the car is compliant with Oregon's legal provisions.
If there is no proof or document supporting its compliance, you need to secure this statement from the DEQ, the DMV, or from a car dealer to verify it passed the Oregon standard requirements.
License Plates in Oregon
Upon the completion of your vehicle’s registration, you will be issued license plates. These are transferable if you decide to get a new vehicle.
After receiving your license plates, registration stickers of the vehicle will also be issued. You will see the month on the lower left portion of the sticker. The year is indicated on the lower right portion of it.
It is required that the stickers are placed on the license plates properly, otherwise an officer will ask you to pull over when caught along the road. There is an option to request for special or personalized plates, but these plates cost additional fees.
