Auto Transport Services in North Dakota (ND)

🇺🇸 North Dakota (ND)

Safe And Reliable North Dakota Car Shipping Services By A-1 Auto Transport

You tend to hear more about some states than others and North Dakota is certainly one of the quieter states in the union. There isn’t a lot of glitz and glamour to this High Plains locale; rather, it is a state made up of clusters of closely-knit communities, a history steeped in Native American culture and a vast landscape that is full of so much natural beauty and wonder, it rivals many of the other more well-known destinations in the world. Canada is just to the north of this state, and South Dakota directly to the south. It is known as a state that has a very low population when compared to other states in the country; in fact, of all 50 states, North Dakota is the 4th least densely populated of them all. There are several Air Force bases in the state, and Fargo is as close to a metropolis as it gets in this region.

North Dakota Nd

The fact that the U.S. military has such a strong presence here means that North Dakota auto transport will likely be an important offering for those soldiers that may need to transport their vehicles from one base to the next. For example, someone shipping to North Dakota from overseas may need to send their belongings back from overseas and this could include a car, which is why finding the right North Dakota auto transport company is so important. In addition to the military presence, there is much to enjoy in this densely populated state. For example, Native American culture is extremely prominent here, and many of the state’s festivals and entertainment offerings fall into that vein. Agriculture equates big business in North Dakota, giving the state a gross domestic product of about $24 million as of a few years ago. This is definitely a state in which you need to drive to enjoy the sights and scenery. Ship your car using North Dakota auto transport to make sure that you have what you need when maneuvering around here.

Using North Dakota Car Transport Companies

When you are looking to book North Dakota car transport services, keep a few key tips in mind.

  • Make sure your chosen company is properly registered and insured: The transport company of your choosing should be properly registered with the U.S. Department of Transportation and should have the proper insurance in place to transport vehicles. Ask to see copies of this paperwork before you sign on the dotted line so that you are assured that company with which you are dealing is a reputable one.
  • Don’t compromise on affordability: You don’t have to necessarily compromise if you need a transport company that is both affordable and easy to work with. There are plenty of companies that provide both elements for transport consumers.
  • Ask about company’s scope of transport: Depending on where you are coming from or where you need to go, inquire about the company’s ability to transport your vehicle to another area of the state or even the country before you settle on one in particular.

Visit the North Dakota Department of Transportation website for more information on North Dakota and the plentiful opportunities in which it can offer those visiting or relocating to the state.

Long Distance Auto Transport to/from North Dakota

Distance is not a problem for our carriers and drivers. We have numerous tested routes throughout the US, so we can reach you wherever you need us. Cars can also be picked up or dropped off in remote areas, provided there’s a sufficiently large road that allows our trucks to reach it.

Costs vary depending on the distance, but you’re bound to find them more than reasonable. You can use an open truck to reduce them, or pay a bit more and enjoy the higher level service of an enclosed carrier. If you’re interested in shipping a car or any other type of vehicle, calling us directly is the best way to get started.

International Auto Transport from/to North Dakota

Before moving yourself or your vehicle abroad, you should first get familiar with that country’s legislation. For example, you may have to meet certain criteria for your car to be street legal. Import taxes also vary greatly, with some countries choosing to increase them for various reasons.

Our company can point you to the proper resources and advise you based on situations we’ve encountered in the past. We can deal with customs officials in your stead and make sure all the necessary paperwork is accounted for. To set up your shipment, call now.

Cheap Car Transportation Options in North Dakota

Car transport rates depend on several factors, such as the type of shipping, the pickup/drop off locations, the size of the vehicle, the cost of fuel, seasonal demands, and other factors.

Car shipping prices during winter tend to drop because there are fewer requests for this service. If you find winter too difficult a season to ship your car in, try late autumn or early spring.

You can consider an open carrier as another cheap transportation option. To save more money, take full advantage of our terminals as well. Finally, some citizens can benefit from our discounts. Ask our staff if you meet the criteria.

Shipping Luxury and Classic Cars in North Dakota

To ship classic or exotic cars to North Dakota, A1 Auto Transport recommends its enclosed auto carriers. They may cost slightly more, but the superior protection that comes with such a service is worth it.

Classic and antique cars are often fragile and costly to repair. Especially if you’re shipping them for a show, it’s best to transport them in an enclosed trailer so the paint and metal don’t get damaged from road debris. Repairing luxury and exotic cars also costs a lot, and as a symbol of the owner’s wealth and status, many wish to keep them in perfect condition. For these reasons and more, enclosed carriers are often our clients’ first pick when transporting such vehicles.

North Dakota Special Discounts

Our company offers special discounts to its senior customers, as well as to military members transporting a POV. If you’re a student who needs his car for the daily commute, we’ve prepared a special discount for you also. You may also inquire regarding our seasonal offers, available to all our customers during certain times of the year.

Auto Transport Safety Measures in North Dakota

Safety is a given when the appropriate measures are taken. Our trucks are inspected regularly for malfunctions that may damage the cargo. Our drivers inspect each car prior to loading, to assess its state and also to make sure it doesn’t pose any danger to the other vehicles on the trailer.

After carefully strapping it in place, he/she will follow a predetermined route to the final destination. This limits the amount of problems that may appear on the road, since most routes are tested beforehand and checked for potholes, tricky intersections, etc.

Finally, we recommend you verify your car when receiving it. In rare cases, there may be an extra scratch or bump left by bad weather on it. If you wish, you can ask to be compensated for these issues.

North Dakota Car Registration

Registering a car in North Dakota can be done at the DOT office in person. You will need to pay the registration fee and bring your driver’s license and vehicle title. If you are new in the state, the process is the same. If you’re a resident of another state but are working in ND, you can register your vehicle temporarily.

According to the NDDOT, unless you’re a resident of another state, your vehicle and title must be registered in ND. If you’re military personnel or a student, you don’t have to register your car, but you do have to bring the license plates issued by your home state.

Registering a Car in ND Temporarily

Temporary car registrations can be done on a 6 or 12 month basis. They are necessary if you work in ND but are not a resident. However, if you do get a temporary registration in ND, you will need to register your car in your old state as well.

Temporary registration applications can be made online or in person.

If you wish to register your car in person, you will need to:

  • Visit the DMV office closest to you in ND;
  • Provide personal and vehicle information, such as:
    • The registration of your vehicle in the last state;
    • The car’s title;
    • Identification proof;
  • Pay several fees.

To register a car online, a printer is necessary. You may follow these steps:

  • Go to the NDDOT webpage for temporary registrations.
  • Go to Temporary Registrations at the page’s bottom part and click it.
  • Enter the necessary information.
  • Pay the fee for renewal.
  • Print a temporary car registration permit.

You cannot transfer your temporary car registration in North Dakota. You will not receive a refund, regardless of how much time you’ll stay in the state.

If you want to register your car in person at the NDDOT office, please prepare the following:

  • A completed 2872 SFN.
  • Your legal name’s proof. Examples:
    • Your driver’s license,
    • Your ID card,
    • Any document which confirms your identity.
  • You must pay 5% for the excise fee and prepare the car title.
    • If financing prevents you from obtaining a car title, you must have:
      • The lienholder’s address and name;
      • The account number of your loan;
      • Your car registration from the other state;
      • The excise tax’ remittance or payment proof.
    • If you have a new car, you may need:
      • An origin certificate.
      • A statement disclosing the odometer reading signed by you and the dealer.
      • To pay all taxes and fees for the license plates, registration, and title.

Your car’s current value will determine the excise tax if the title on your car is from Delaware, Canada, Oregon, Alaska, New Hampshire, or Montana. To operate legally on North Dakota roads, you must obtain auto insurance from an insurance company licensed in ND.

Car Registration for Non-Residents and North Dakota Military

The transportation department in ND has different titling and registration requirement for members of the military. These requirements depend on whether they’re stationed outside or inside the state.

Speak to the NDDMV office in your county if you’re stationed outside of ND. They will provide you with specific fees and requirements for your car registration.

North Dakota military stationed in the state who are also residents

If you’re stationed in ND, serving as military personnel, and also a resident, you can register and title your car using the steps explained above.

Military personnel with a residency in ND that are stationed in another state

If you’re a resident of ND stationed in another state as part of your military duties, you must submit the following:

  • A 2872 SFN;
  • A 17147 SFN;
  • The origin certificate of the manufacturer or a car title from outside the state;
  • Paying all taxes and fees.

Send all the documents to the mail address specified in your application form. Contact the DMV office in North Dakota for any questions you may have.

Returning military personnel that are residents of North Dakota

If you kept a car in storage while you were deployed overseas, you must submit the following at the DMV office in your local area:

  • 2872 SFN;
  • Legal name proof, like:

    • Your ID card;
    • Any other documents you can use to verify your identity.
  • The following details written in a note:
    • Your deployment area;
    • Your deployment start and finish dates;
    • Your return date.
  • All registration fees must be paid.

It costs $25 to own a ND special personalized letter plate. You may also have to pay more fees when registering the vehicle.

It’s my number one pick in auto shipping to this day.

Due to the nature of my work, I must relocate every couple of years to where my company needs me. Because of this, I’ve tested several moving and auto transport companies over the years.

And my choice in terms of auto transport has to be A1 Auto Transport. It’s in the name, but also in the quality with which they do their jobs. I’ve never had a problem with this company.

The only time my shipment was delayed was during winter when a snowstorm closed down all the major roads. And they still found an alternative and got my car delivered before roads got unstuck.

When I moved to West Virginia, they picked up my car the very day I called them. I like to think they take special care of me considering all the business I’ve sent them. I’ll continue to support A1 Auto Transport. It’s my number one pick in auto shipping to this day.

Luis Rodriguez
You have my full support and recommendation!

I considered selling my car when I moved to Washington. It was old and rusty, but I grew attached to it. So, I called a couple companies to transport it to my new home, but they both fell through.

The first one couldn’t decide on a schedule. He would constantly change the pickup date till I got frustrated and canceled. The second was insufferable, very rude on the phone, even worse in person.

They started picking a part my car asking me why I still have it. If that’s their opinion of my vehicle, how can I trust they’ll take care of it? If something happened midway, why wouldn’t they just blame it on the car instead of paying up?

So, I cancelled this company as well and turned to A1 Auto Transport. From the get go, they were very different from my past options. Their website was very professional and up to date, full of useful information. I requested a quote using their online form, and I got an email response within an hour. Surprisingly fast!

If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought they were lacking customers, but the email spoke for itself. In just one email, everything I needed to know was there, including a contact number I could use to get more information or confirm the transport.

I called and got things rolling. I was very pleased with the driver. He followed standard procedure and represented his company well. Can’t remember his name, but props to him!

The car arrived in Washington 6 days later in excellent condition. From what I understand, the transport was delayed a bit by a storm, but since the time window was 4-6 days from the beginning, I don’t really care. You have my full support and recommendation!

I can safely say this is a legit company that will get the job done.

There are a lot of options for auto transport these days, which surprisingly makes it harder to find a good company. I received more than 10 offers to ship my car, but I couldn’t decide on any of them.

After doing some research, I got even more worried reading about all the scams and accidents that can happen. But, I have work to do and couldn’t afford to drive my newly purchased Mini Cooper all the way to Virginia.

Fortunately, I made the right choice with A1 Auto Transport. They are very good at their jobs. I spent more than an hour drilling Joe with various questions, and he never once lost his patience. He saw I was interested, so he bore with me until I was satisfied. The driver was also very courteous and my car was intact on arrival. I couldn’t have asked for more.

By the way, the price we first agreed on stayed the same. There were no delays or unexpected “surprises.” I can safely say this is a legit company that will get the job done.

We give A1 Auto Transport a big 10 out of 10!

We give A1 Auto Transport a big 10 out of 10! We chose them to move our car from California to Vermont, since we needed professionals.

We were abroad during the transport, so the transport was a bit tricky. The driver had to pick it up from storage on short notice and get it to its destination within at most 10 days. I was happy to note it arrived sooner. We got it 3 days early, right when we got home to pick it up. It made getting around way easier. Awesome service!
