Mecum Car Auctions

Mecum car auctions let registered bidders compete for collector vehicles in person, by telephone, or online, with each vehicle offered as an individual lot. Current bidder procedures require registration and may require financial verification before bidding. The auctioneer may bid for the seller up to a stated reserve, and the winning bidder assumes responsibility for the vehicle when the sale is completed. After payment and release, you can arrange pickup or use a car transportation services provider to move the purchase.

As of September 24, 2026, Mecum's 2026 bidder terms list a 10% automobile buyer's premium for in-person bids and 12% for telephone or internet bids, with a $1,000 minimum premium. Standard annual bidder registration is $200. Taxes and applicable payment charges can increase the final invoice beyond the hammer price and premium. For example, a $50,000 accepted bid carries a $5,000 in-person premium or a $6,000 telephone or internet premium before other applicable charges.

Mecum keeps its auction schedule, upcoming lots, and completed results in separate sections of its official auction site, which is more useful than relying on an older static event list. Its 2026 listings have included Kissimmee, Glendale, Houston, Indy, Tulsa, Harrisburg, Monterey, Nashville, and Dallas/Fort Worth. Completed-auction pages also let buyers move from the current calendar to prior results, while upcoming-lot pages are updated as additional consignments are added.

Mecum auction vehicles are generally sold AS IS, WHERE IS, and Mecum's current bidder rules say the company does not independently inspect or test each lot or provide a warranty on its condition, genuineness, value, or quality. Buyers are responsible for examining a vehicle before bidding and deciding whether its condition and documentation meet their needs. Mileage statements are also attributed to the consignor, so photos and listing details should not replace your own inspection or other due diligence before bidding.

After winning a Mecum vehicle, settle the purchase, confirm the release instructions, and give your transporter the auction location, lot information, pickup contact, and the vehicle's running condition. Mecum's current bidder rules require purchased lots to be removed within 48 hours after the auction ends, after which the facility may assess a $200-per-day storage charge. An auction auto transport service can coordinate the carrier and pickup window, but any gate-pass or release requirement should be confirmed before the truck arrives.

Loaded transport from a Mecum auction commonly takes about 1 to 3 days for shorter trips around 500 miles or less and roughly 7 to 10 days for cross-country moves. Those ranges describe transit after loading, not the time needed to assign a carrier and complete auction release. Current carrier guidance overlaps closely around those bands, although route, weather, and pickup access can shift delivery. A door-to-door auto transport service normally delivers as close to the requested address as the truck can safely and legally reach.
