Importing a Car to Italy from the USA
The process of shipping a car to another country is one that should only be looked after by professionals that have experience in the industry. Otherwise, you may lose out of money or even worse- your car.
Always be cautious about who you hire to trust your carโs delivery with. Not all transporters are reliable.
Before you schedule with a transporter to ship your car to Italy, think about the shipping services available to you. This will play a huge role in your final shipping costs. For such long distance transports, container shipping methods are recommended.

What to Expect with Italyโs Import Taxes and Duties.
Importing your car from the US requires you to pay an import duty and a registration fee. Used cars have a higher import tax. Owners of new cars imported into Italy have to pay the standard VAT of 22%. If you can prove that you have been the owner of your car for over 12 months, you can import the vehicle duty-free. The Embassy of Italy can provide any information you need in regards to import laws.
