Shipping a Hot Shot Trucking

Hot Shot Trucking

Hot shot trucking is a quick type of transport that is handled by small to medium-duty trucks that pull trailers. Unlike large transport carriers that may take weeks to deliver, hot shot truckers typically strive for quick and efficient delivery. Hot shot trucking loads are usually geared towards one customer at a time, unlike large carriers that may have multiple loads at one time.

What can be hauled with hot shot trucking?

There are several diverse types of products hauled with hot shot trucks. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Construction equipment
  • Farm materials
  • Heavy machinery
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Forklifts
  • Store merchandise

Hot Shot Trucks

Hot shot trucks are medium duty trucks that pull flatbed trailers. There are three classes which include:

  • Class 3: Class 3 trucks can haul anywhere from 10,000 to 14,000 pounds.
  • Class 4: Class 4 trucks can haul anywhere from 14,001 to 16,000 pounds.
  • Class 5: Class 5 trucks can haul anywhere from 16,001 to 19,500 pounds.

The trailers that are used for hot shot trucking are usually around 3 and a half feet off the ground and up to 40 feet long. These trailers are the most common types of trailers seen with hot shot trucking:

  • Gooseneck trailer: Gooseneck trailers are usually around 40 feet long and they are easy to use to haul loads. They make sharp turns and are used frequently with hot shot loads. They will haul larger loads than some of the other trailers.
  • Lowboy trailer: Lowboy trailers can haul heavy loads, but since they are lower to the ground, they can haul taller equipment than other trailers.
  • Bumper pull trailer: Bumper pull trailers are smaller than other trailers and suitable for hauling small loads that weigh up to around 10,000 pounds. They are ideal for drivers that may not have the experience driving larger trucks or hauling bulkier trailers.
  • Dovetail trailer: Dovetail trailers are commonly used to haul heavy construction and farm machines.

I can safely say this is a legit company that will get the job done.

There are a lot of options for auto transport these days, which surprisingly makes it harder to find a good company. I received more than 10 offers to ship my car, but I couldn’t decide on any of them... Fortunately, I made the right choice with A1 Auto Transport.
