The regulations of Congo don’t allow any vehicle over the age of 10 years to be imported into the country. It is essential that all vehicles and cars being imported are left hand driven and those that have 10 or more seats need to be less than 7 years old.

If you need more information on the taxes as applicable on imported vehicles, you need to know that there is standard tax of 22.5% under the Import Declaration Fee, which is applicable on all new and used vehicles. The total amount varies as per the evaluated value of the vehicle. Additionally, there are custom and excise taxes based on the cost of freight charges, value of the vehicle and insurance on it. These are usually 8% - 46% while additional VAT is 8% - 13% is charged on all imported vehicles. Documentation
