Ready for Shipping Day?
When you have plans to ship a car you need to make sure that you are fully prepared for shipping day in advance. Once you have hired a good company you need to make sure that you have everything in writing including the price quote, insurance and all other information that the company has provided about your transport services.
You need to get your car ready for shipping day by having it washed and removing all personal content from inside the car. Have the fluids checked and make sure the antifreeze is full, especially if the car will be transported to a new climate. If there are accessories on the outside of the car that may fall off or can be easily removed you will need to remove those prior to transport. This includes car covers, ground effects, and luggage racks. If you have an alarm system it will need to be disabled before shipping as well. If the alarm cannot be disabled you will need to let the driver know how to shut it off if it goes off during transport. Make a spare key for the driver and make sure you have an extra as well in case it is lost during transport. Make plans to be present when the driver is scheduled to get the car because you will need to sign the Bill of Lading for insurance purposes.
