Shipping to Cumberland
When youโre having a car shipped, whether locally or across the country, there are some things you need to know in order to prepare the car and have the best transport experience possible. Keep these tips from A-1 Auto Transport in mind when booking service for your automobile:
- All personal items should be removed from the car even if youโre only relocating across town. Personal items are not generally covered by carrier insurance and if you leave them in the car chances are they would not be covered and the driver could not guarantee their safety while in transit.
- Your car needs to be as clean as possible because it will be inspected before and after transport. The inspection is very important as it will note any damage to the car. If there is new damage when the car is delivered you, and the driver, will be able to see it more clearly is the car is clean.
- Unless otherwise noted to the transporter ahead of time, the car needs to be in good running condition during transport. The driver will need to move the car in order to load and unload other vehicles on the transport route. Mechanical issues with a vehicle could delay transport delivery for cars on the truck.
- Your fuel should be run down to about a quarter tank only. This allows for enough gas to move the car around during shipment as well as enough to get to a station when the car is delivered and it wonโt be more than necessary that could add weight to the carrier and increase cost or cause the driver to have an overweight truckload.
- Lastly, be sure to have the car keys ready for the driver and disarm the vehicle alarm. If the alarm cannot be disarmed you need to show the driver how to turn it off manually if it engages during while in transit.
