Required Documents for Bulgaria
All European Union Countries require a certain amount of documentation in order allow a vehicle to be imported. You will be responsible for coming up with these documents and have them available or make copies of them to have the available. Some documents you will need include:
- Proof of registration of the vehicle
- Proof of ownership
- A valid visa for you
- Driver’s license valid in Bulgaria or internationally
- Insurance policy documentation
Duties and Taxes
The total amount you will pay for taxes and duties will depend on several factors including the country of origin and specifications of your vehicle. However, if your vehicle is imported from the outside of the EU including USA, it will be charged a fee of about 17% or more, depending on several factors. The current standard VAT for Bulgaria is 20% and is determined by the value of goods and adding that to the international shipping cost and insurance cost. Excise taxes will also be added to the import cost and is determined by the Bulgarian authorities.
