Car Shipping Tips to Prepare Your Car
Follow these tips from A-1 Auto Transport when you are shipping your car via a professional auto transporter.
- You need to wash the car prior to the carrier picking the car up. This holds true whether you’re shipping via an open or an enclosed carrier. There will be a pre-shipping inspection and any dust or dirt on the car could camouflage signs of damage both before shipping and after.
- Clean all personal items out of the car, Auto transporters are not usually licensed or insured to carry personal items inside of the vehicles they haul. If the items are stolen or damaged during transport you risk losing them. When it comes to the outside of the vehicle you also need to remove any loose or aftermarket items like ground effects, car or grill covers, luggage racks or tire covers.
- You need to make sure the battery is charged and the car alarm has been disarmed. If you have an alarm that cannot be disarmed you need to let the driver know how to shut it off if it sets off during transport. Make a key for the driver because the car will need to be moved to load and unload other cars during the transport.
