Using New Hampshire Car Transport Companies

When you are looking to book New Hampshire car transport services, keep a few key tips in mind.

  • Don’t forget those snow tires: If you are heading to New Hampshire during the winter season, then you want to be sure that your car is as prepared as your suitcase. Snow tires, chains and anything else that your vehicle needs to make it through winter conditions should be applied to your vehicle before you ship your car.
  • Ask about transport during inclement weather: Find out how winter weather might affect the company’s ability to transport your car to New Hampshire. Get a copy of their company’s written policies on what happens during bad weather, so you can be prepared and adjust your timeline accordingly, as needed.
  • Determine how that affects your rates: Ask ahead of time how it may affect your rates to go through snow or other winter conditions, or what happens to your rate should the New Hampshire company experience a delay of some sort in getting your car to its final destination.

There is much to see from the imposing mountain chains that wind their way through the state to the quaint villages that are welcoming to guests, so be sure to plot out a route and explore all that New Hampshire has to offer.

Visit the New Hampshire Department of Transportation website for more information on New Hampshire and learn what you need to know about transporting your car and driving around this small state.

Long Distance Auto Transport to/from New Hampshire

Over long distances, transporting cars may get difficult due to various costs and logistics. For example, fuel expenses are quite high, and you may even need to set aside money for hotel bills and meals. Your car may need repairs during the long trip, and the excess mileage will lower its lifespan.

However, these problems can be avoided easily with an auto carrier. Your vehicle will be shipped along with several others, so the cost is lower. The driver’s hotel bills, meals, and salary are handled by the auto transport company. And there’s no chance of a flat tire or extra mileage on your car, since it will be stationary on the truck for the entire trip.

International Auto Transport from/to New Hampshire

International auto transportation has a few more variables than shipping within the US. Because you are taking your car to another country, you must verify whether it meets that state’s standards, or you might not be able to legally drive it once there. You may also have to get a new driver’s license approved by that state.

To import your car, you’ll have to get past customs. This means paying a tax and providing the necessary paperwork. If some of the documents are missing or you can’t afford to pay the tax, you cannot import your car.

To help you make sense of all these and make the shipping process easier, our staff is ready to receive you call.

Cheap Car Transportation Options in New Hampshire

Auto transportation costs are determined by several factors, such as distance, vehicle weight and size, and your options. The type of transport you opt for makes a big difference in the final cost you’ll have to pay.

For example, when using our door to door service, the truck must go out of its way to accommodate your pickup/delivery. This incurs extra expenses, so the service is also pricier. By taking your car to a nearby terminal, you can avoid these costs completely.

Express deliveries require an enclosed carrier, but they’re also more expensive to book. If you’re not in a hurry, we recommend using our open trucks instead.

If you can afford to wait, it’s also better to ship your car in a colder season, like winter. During this time, auto transportation requests are fewer, so our company has a seasonal offering in place to encourage potential customers. You can take advantage of this and our other discounts to lower your costs further.

Shipping Luxury and Classic Cars in New Hampshire

If money is not a problem and you need to ship classic, antique, or luxury cars to New Hampshire, an enclosed auto carrier is a good option to consider. This mode of car transport offers a new level of assistance and service not typically available with open carriers. Owners may choose to move their cars exclusively in a single truck or with a multi-car trailer. Also, no detours are required of drivers, so your vehicle arrives faster at its destination.

Covered trailers add protection from possible car theft, dust, dirt, rain, and other weather elements. Other features include hydraulic lift gates for loading and unloading low-ground clearance automobiles, phone and email notifications of the car’s status, and a high insurance policy limit. Since classic, luxury, and antique cars tend to be high in value, using enclosed auto carriers to ship them provides an extra layer of security.

New Hampshire Special Discounts

Special discounts are afforded to senior citizens, to students, whether they be New Hampshire residents or not, as well as to US military personnel regardless of their state of origin. Since certain seasons are less busy than others, we also offer seasonal discounts depending on the time of year you ship your car.

Auto Transport Safety Measures in New Hampshire

Your car’s safety is assured thanks to our modern carriers. They prevent vehicles from moving around, and they’re very stable, so a smooth ride is almost guaranteed. Our drivers are also experienced, so they know what roads have the least potholes and are easiest to navigate.

All these measures ensure your car will arrive safely. Even more, if another vehicle sends something flying towards the truck, it will likely be stopped by the surrounding bars and beams. Enclosed carriers go a step further, preventing anything from reaching your car. Depending on your budget and the level of safety you require, it may be a better option.

How to Request a Price Estimate

Our phone number is placed at the top our website’s pages for anyone who would like to contact us. We’ve also prepared an online form in case you’re just interested in a price estimate.

However, although the price estimate is fairly accurate, you may be able to get a better deal through the phone. Since each situation is difference, yours may allow it. However, you will need the help of one of our staff members. We recommend you call our office, discuss your situation and requirements with our personnel and see what we can do. In the past, we’ve managed to save more than 15% of the cost for our clients, though this is only possible in certain circumstances.

New Hampshire Vehicle Registration

You must register your vehicle in person in NH. You must present a certificate of residency, proof/title of ownership, payment of all associated fees, and an odometer acknowledgement statement. New Hampshire assesses state and city fees, with the weight of your vehicle determining the state fees that will be charged. For new NH residents and those with dealership-bought vehicles, additional documents are required.

To drive your vehicle legally on state roads, NH mandates all its residents to complete their vehicle registration with the NH DMV. The town clerk assists first-time registrants with submitting the documents to apply for a NH vehicle title.

Registration for New Residents

New residents to NH have sixty days for a vehicle registration and to get a NH driver’s license. A resident is one who has purchased, leased, or rented a location to stay in NH.

Vehicle titling and registration must be done simultaneously. The town’s administrative officer will handle the state and city aspect of these processes.

To complete your vehicle registration, visit the office of the town clerk and:

  • Present your registration and title.
  • For leased vehicles, submit the following:
  •
    • A leasing agreement,
    • Lienholder’s place of residence and name,
      • You can submit an application for a sixty-day provisional license plate that you can use as you wait for the administrative officer to verify your title information with the lienholder.
  • Certificate of residency (utility bills, mortgage or lease agreements, etc.).
  • Payment of all associate fees.
  •
    • City and state fees are collected as separate transactions, and must be paid separately as well.

The town’s administrative officer will then make all the arrangements for your vehicle registration paperwork.

Vehicle registration is a one-day process, and you must visit the office of the town clerk to complete it. The process varies and is dependent on whether you’re leasing, or buying your vehicle from a dealership or from a private seller.

NH Dealership-Bought Vehicles

After your purchase at a NH dealership, provisional license plates will be issued to use for twenty days as you complete your vehicle registration.

At the office of the town clerk, present the following:

  • Your car title or title application’s blue pages.
  • If required, information of the lienholder.
  • For recently-bought vehicles, the manufacturer’s origin certificate.
  • Certificate of residency (driver’s license, mortgage or lease agreement, bank statement, etc.).
  • Payment for all applicable fees.
    • City and state fees are collected as separate transactions, and must be paid for separately as well.

Vehicles Bought at a Dealership Outside of State

For vehicles bought from a dealership from another state, it is advisable that you inquire prior to exiting the shop if you can obtain a provisional license plate for you to use as you drive the vehicle to New Hampshire.

Upon arriving in the state, visit the office of the town clerk and provide the following;

  • Dealership-provided vehicle title, or title information from a NH lienholder.
  • For recently-bought vehicles, the manufacturer’s origin certificate.
  • Certificate of residency (utility bill, bank statement, pay check, etc.).
  • Payment of applicable fees.
    • State and city taxes are collected as separate transactions, and must be paid for separately as well.

Private Seller-Purchased Vehicles

For cars bought from a private seller, you will need to get a $10 provisional license plate valid for 20 days from the DMV office in your locality. This will enable you to drive your vehicle legally from the location of the seller to the office of the county clerk for registration.

Once you arrive at the office of the town clerk, submit the following:

  • The seller’s vehicle title signed over properly to you;
  • Proof of Residency (mortgage or rent agreement, utility bills, etc.);
  • Odometer Acknowledgement Statement;
  • Payment for associated fees;
    • City and state taxes are collected as separate transactions, and must be paid for separately as well.

Note: If you went to an in-state private seller and bought a vehicle intending to have it registered outside of state, you can submit an application for a provisional in-transit 20 day registration so you can drive the vehicle legally to your destination.

New Hampshire Service Members Automobile Registration

Non-NH residents serving in the state

Non-resident service members stationed in NH are not required to get a vehicle registration if they carry a legal, up-to-date registration.

New Hampshire military residents

Resident service members stationed in NH may complete their vehicle registration by following standard registration procedures.

New Hampshire residents stationed outside of the state may contact their local DMV office to get assistance in registering and titling their recently bought vehicle.

Fees for Registering your Vehicle(s)

State and city taxes apply to vehicle registrations in New Hampshire, and state fees depend on your vehicle’s weight. These are considered separate transactions, and payments should be made out separately for each.

City Fees

  • $3: Trucks and passenger vehicles;
  • $5: Buses and heavy vehicles;
  • $2: trailers, motorcycles, farm/recreational vehicles.

State fees

  • $31.20: 0 – 3K pounds;
  • $43: 30001 – 5K pounds;
  • $55.20: 5001 – 8K pounds;
  • $0.96/100lbs: 8001 – 73,000 pounds.

Other Fees for NH Vehicle Registration

  • $8 fee: Initial plate;
  • $15: Vehicle registration copy;
  • $10: provisional 20-day registration.

New Hampshire emissions and safety inspections

It is not required for NH vehicles to undergo an inspection of emissions before registration, but they must be completed within ten days of the vehicle registration with the office of the town clerk.

Obtaining a NH vehicle registration copy

Damaged or lost registration certificates can be replaced. You must apply for one at the DMV office in your locality by:

  • Submitting a completed Duplicate Registration Application form;
  • Paying an applicable fee ($15).

NH License Plates

License plates are provided after the vehicle registration. However, specialized or vanity plates are unavailable at the office of the town clerk.

Provisional license plates

During your wait for a NH vehicle registration, you may have to obtain a provisional license plate so you may drive your vehicle in the state.

20-day license plate for dealer purchased vehicles

Dealerships in NH can provide you with a 20-day provisional plate after a vehicle purchase, which permits you to drive your vehicle to the office of the town clerk for registration purposes.

20-day license plate for vehicles bought from a private seller

For registration purposes, vehicles purchased via a private seller or party are eligible for a 20-day provisional license plate that can be obtained at the office of the town clerk. To apply for it, you must:

  • Present proof of ID,
  • Submit a certificate of sale indicating:
    • Buyer and seller’s legal names,
    • Buyer and seller’s signatures,
    • VIN,
    • Vehicle description (model, make, year, etc.),
  • $10 payment fee.

20-day In-Transit Plates

For non-NH residents who made a vehicle purchase from a NH resident, an in-transit 20-day provisional license plate can be applied so you may drive the car back to the original state. Present the following:

  • Proof of ID,
  • Vehicle title (filled up properly),
  • Certificate of Sale indicating:
    • Buyer and seller’s legal names,
    • Buyer and seller’s signatures,
    • VIN,
    • Vehicle description (model, make, year, etc.),
  • $10 payment fee.

60-day License Plate for New Residents

If you are a new resident with loans for a lienholder residing outside of the state, you may submit an application for a sixty-day provisional license plate that you can use while waiting for the lienholder to provide your NH vehicle registration details. These provisional plates are applicable to leased vehicles as well.
