Is Your car Ready for Transport to Jackson?
When you need to ship a car to Jackson, you need to consider one of the most important aspects of vehicle shipping. Car Preparation. Sure, finding a great company to transport the car is important, but having the car ready to go is equally important to help ensure safe transport. Use these tips from A-1 Auto Transport to make sure your car is ready to go when the carrier shows up to transport the car:
- Cars should be in good running condition when they are transported. If the car is inoperable be sure to let the company know this upfront as not all carriers can haul inoperable vehicles. Your battery should be charged, brakes should work and tires should be in good shape.
- Motor vehicle carriers do not usually offer insurance to cover valuables left inside a car during transport. You should always remove all personal items from the inside of the car before it is picked up. If lost or damaged, they will not be covered and the loss will be on you and not the company.
- All vehicles must be inspected when they are picked up for transport. Cars should be washed so all areas are easily seen when the driver is performing the inspection. This is necessary for insurance purposes because if damage should occur during transport, it is much easier seen on a clean vehicle. Dust and dirt can hide small signs of damage like chipped paint, scratches and other small cosmetic damage.
- Truck drivers must go through vehicle inspections while traveling and they are only allowed to have a certain weight on their trucks. Gas should be running down to a quarter tank to help keep the weight of the load down as well as keep your cost of shipping the car down.
- Be sure to disarm the security system and have keys ready for the driver when the car is picked up. Per regulation, the driver should have a key to the vehicle doors, trunk and ignition.
