Documentation and cost of shipping.
The import taxes are high and if you are planning to have your vehicle imported from USA, you need to factor in the 40% import tax. If it is a luxury car, there might be additional cost based on the evaluated value of the vehicle. Additionally, you cannot import a right hand drive vehicle. For standard vehicle, there is the import duty and the turnover tax while for luxury vehicles; there is import duty, turnover tax and additional excise duty.
You are allowed to import the vehicle as temporarily which includes vehicles imported for the use in tourism, supervision of projects and businesses. They are imported on a temporary permit and have to be exported after the time period of the permit expires.

- Remove air condition gas, personal items.
- Disable locks, alarms.

Sealed Container shipping.
This is more expensive than RORO but offers an extra layer of protection as the vehicle and other personal goods are sealed within large containers. These containers measure 20 feet or 40 feet depending upon your requirements and you can hire accordingly. There are no restrictions but steam cleaning the car will ensure that it is not quarantined at the port by the Lao P.D.R Cusoms.
