What Time Should You Schedule Your Vehicle’s Pick Up On The Moving Day
When you need to move across state lines or to another country, driving your own car may not really be an option. On top of hiring a moving company to transport your household items to your new place, you also need to consider how the car will be shipped. Between all the packing, loading your items and taking care of other business, something like scheduling for car pickup can slip your mind.
Things to consider before scheduling a car pickup
The car can be shipped either before you move or on the moving day depending on your needs. If you need the car up to the last day either for work or to load other stuff, you can have it picked up on the last day. However, if you can use a cab or car hire for a few days, shipping the car before the move is ideal because you will find it when you arrive there.
If you are moving very far and the car will take weeks to arrive, scheduling a pick up date weeks ahead of the move is wise because you don’t want to wait for your car for too long after you move in. However, if it’s near and the car can arrive in a matter of days, you can have them pick it up a few days before the move or on move day.

When to schedule your vehicles pickup day
Ideally, you should not call the moving company and expect them to pick up the car in a day or two. Shipping companies have standard practices that require you to give them enough notice so they can fit your vehicle into their schedule. One should start looking for shipping companies a few months before the move so you can vet them, compare quotes and settle for one. About a month or more before your moving date, book or schedule a pickup date so they can book you in. Be sure to follow up a few days before the moving date and ensure that you are still on schedule.
How to prepare your car for moving day
Though you don’t need to fill the tank of the car since its being shipped, there are still some other things you can do to prepare the vehicle for the move. For starters, the car should be well serviced so that there will be no oil leaks during the move. It’s also important because you want a car that is working perfectly when you receive it. Make sure you have removed any valuables from the car as well as car rugs, spare tires, jack, speakers and baby seat.
Scheduling for your car pickup on time is very important so you don’t miss the shipment. If you have too many things going on, you can write down a list of everything you need to do for the move including booking a car shipment.
