The state of Indiana is a dream for some motorcyclists. While it holds some major cities, it also has many rural areas. As for the city of South Bend, it is continuously growing, and more people are beginning to reside there. A motorcyclist would definitely love having their bike to cruise the city on.
Transporting your motorcycle can be done with one of the many transport companies throughout the city. It is relatively inexpensive and can be even safer from damage than riding the bike there yourself, as long as you find a trustworthy shipping company. There will be a variety of different shipping methods for you to think about too.
The Prerequisites and Shipping Methods to Think About
If you have decided to ship your vehicle, do some research and become knowledgeable of how motorcycle transport works. Other than keeping your budget in mind, you will need to decide what company to ship through and what method is safest for the motorcycle.
- Enclosed Shipping
- Crated Shipping
- Open Air Shipping
- Terminal to Terminal
- Door to Door
The requirements and tasks that need to be fulfilled before a motorcycle can be shipped are rather simple to complete. However, they must be addressed for the overall safety of the bike and shipping process.
- Wash the motorcycle. Make sure there is no dirt or deposits.
- Take notes and pictures of any preexisting damage.
- Disable the alarm system if there is one.
- Don't allow the gas tank to be more than a ¼ full.
- Check the fluids, battery and tire pressure.
- Remove any loose or unnecessary items from the bike.
