Ship Your Car To Or From Plzeň, Czech Republic
Located in the western part of Bohemia in Czech Republic, Plzeň is about 56 miles from the capital city of Prague. Plzeň is the fourth most popular city in the Czech Republic. Since the 90s, Plzeň has continued to grow in popularity, increasing the academic, cultural, and business part of the life.
If you want to come to Plzeň to visit, work, or live, you may want to request that your vehicle join you. In order to bring your vehicle over with you to Czech Republic, an important detail to remember is that Czech Republic is part of the European Union. You will need to take precautions and follow procedures when transporting the vehicles from the United States to Plzeň. There are some standards that must be followed when shipping a vehicle to this country, including inspections of the vehicle.
Your vehicle will need to meet all the basic regulations in order to make it past the Customs Administration of Czech Republic. Your vehicle will need to be able to pass through customs and through any other tests that is required in order to make your vehicle road worthy.
Many vehicles from the United States do not meet the emissions laws and regulations that EU has in place. Your vehicle will need to pass the emissions test before proceeding. If it does not pass inspection, you will need to have it modified first before you can transport it. This could end up costing you a lot more money than what you figured on a transport costing. If you are shipping a normal sized vehicle, it could cost you between $1500 and $3,300. You will need to include the customs and value added tax, or VAT which is around 30%. This amount is based on the value of the vehicle.
Another inspection for homologation will determine if your vehicles brakes, bumpers, tires, blinkers, engine, and other parts of your vehicle are in good working order before it will be allowed inside the country. While it may take a while for the process of making your vehicle legal in Czech Republic, in the end, you will be able to drive your vehicle wherever you want to go while you are in Czech Republic.
Auto Import Duties and Taxes
A vehicle coming out of the United States and into the European Union will need to pay taxes and customs duty which is determined by the value of your vehicle, 10%. You will also be responsible for a value added tax that totals 19%. These charges will be charged to you prior to the vehicle being released to you.
If you have owned the vehicle for a minimum of one year in the United States and have been the primary operator of that vehicle for at least six months, you can import the vehicle without paying any duties or VAT. This is in effect because the vehicle is part of personal possessions and that is why it becomes exempt.
Submission of Valid Documents
In order to transport car from the United States to Czech Republic, you will need to have the following documentation ready:
- Proof of purchase
- Personal or company declaration
- Certificate of title
- Copy of your long-term visa
- Housing contract
- Copy of work permit
- A copy of your passport
You have the option of using RORO or container shipping to ship your vehicle. When you work with an expert international shipping service like A-1 Auto Transport, they consider your budget before helping you decide the best method. RORO is cheapest as your vehicle is driven on in U.S and taken off the ship when it reaches the Czech port. But you can only send an empty car using this method. In case, you have personal belongings to ship along with the car or have an expensive vehicle, then container shipping works best.
