Typically, moving house always involves the hiring of a company to transport household items from your old residence to the new one safely. It is common to find home owners researching on the best companies to work with and asking the right questions to get the best deal. The same goes for moving companies that move cars which need to be vetted before getting hired to transport vehicles. The main aim of using specialized companies is to ensure that your car reaches its destination in one piece. So, how do car transportation companies ensure that your vehicle is safe when on transit?
They assess the vehicle prior to transportation
Car transportation companies not only focus on getting your vehicle to its destination but also do their best to avoid it getting damaged. It is for this reason that many asses the car before loading it into the transportation vehicle and take note of any areas that have scratches or dents in the presence of the owner. Furthermore, they reduce liability by asking that the vehicle be cleared of any personal belongings or items that may put it at risk of damage. It is common to find transporters that make it mandatory to remove everything from the car before you drop it off or they pick it up.
They invest in insurance
Although taking up insurance is mandatory for companies that are involved in transportation of vehicles within the country, some do not follow the law as desired. Therefore, it important to confirm that the company you are working with have a valid policy that covers repair costs in case of damage when on transit. Also, you need to understand the extent of cover the policy offers vehicle owners so that you can take up extra insurance if not satisfied. Most times, insurance policies have a great return on investment in case of damage and especially if the car is of high value.
They use approved vehicles for transportation
Majority of moving companies that move cars use single or multi-vehicle trailers for transportation. These trailers are designed to carry one vehicle or more than one at any given time and carry them from one point to another. The trailers can either be closed or open with the former being more secure than the latter. Closed trailers are appropriate for expensive vehicles that need to be transported over a long distance. Alternatively, open trailers are cheaper to hire because the risk of damage is much higher compared to its counterpart. Nevertheless, most delivery services do their best to minimize risk of damage to cars placed under their care for transportation.
They invest in proper equipment
Proper equipment is essential for moving companies that move cars that want to minimize risks during transportation. Normally, loading cars into and from transport trailers is done using special equipment to keep them secure. Most of the trailers have a special ramp fixed at their rear end to allow cars to be driven into the back if they are enclosed. Alternatively, open trailers have ramps on both sides to enable cars to be driven and parked on it without any risk of damage. In most cases, the vehicles, whether single or multiple, are fastened securely on the trailers using special clasps so that they remain steady throughout the transportation period.
They keep you updated on their location
To give you peace of mind, most moving companies that move cars will provide a tracking number that enables you to know their location at all times. The tracking number also provides information on the amount of time and distance they have to cover to reach the final destination. In addition to keeping track of your car using the number, it is also used to inform you of any delays on the road so that you are not worried about the safety of your vehicle.
They bring the car to your doorstep
The safest place to have your car parked is at your doorstep and this is a service car transportation companies offer their clients. The service also involves picking it up from your old residence or location and transporting it all the way so that you don’t have to make plans to pick it up from their terminal. However, this is mostly restricted to local transfers of vehicles with the personalized service attracting higher charges from most carriers.
