How to prepare a car for shipping
The truck driver might land into trouble with the authorities if found transporting a vehicle loaded with personal items. Leave everything out including your valuables and aftermarket accessories like DVD players, removable radio faceplates, speakers, and stereo systems.
Clean the vehicle so that it becomes easy to get a correct inspection. The process will check for the existing cosmetic damage before the transportation process. You can include dated photographs as part of the report.
Leave about a quarter of gas in the tank, which will allow us to drive the vehicle for a short distance during the loading and unloading process. Avoid keeping too much fuel as it might increase the load on the truck.
Remove or cover the loosely attached items on the exterior. Custom spoilers, luggage racks, bike racks, and bull bars should not travel as part of the vehicle. Fold in the side-view mirrors and retract the antenna.
Top off the fluid levels, inflate the tires, and keep the battery on a full charge. Write out a list of the existing mechanical problems and the special operating instructions needed to start or drive the car.
Deactivate the toll tags and parking passes and disable the alarm system. Find a locksmith to make you a set of spare keys that you will hand over to the truck driver.
