How To Ship Your Heron
As far as racing cars go, New Zealand’s Heron was among some of the most impressive line of the last century. Shipping such a car home requires the diligence and care that only a reliable auto shipping company can have. Reliable car shipping companies offer the following advantages;
A world of options
Reliable car shipping companies will offer different shipping options, making it easy to choose regardless of one’s budget. Typically, car transport can be divided into two, international and domestic. However, a truly quality company will be able to offer different options for each. Overseas shipment happens via sea freight or by air, while domestic transportation happens via rail or road. The majority of the transportation companies that ship locally or interstate offer road transportation. This is because it is relatively fast and flexible, and not too expensive.
A good company will also offer a wide range of carrier choices. There are many different types of road transport carriers. However, they can be classified roughly into two, open and enclosed. Open carriers can be further divided into multi-car and single car opens carriers. Single car carriers carry just the one car, but the multi-carriers haul between 3 and ten cars per trip.
Many of the multi-car carriers that carry more than three vehicles at a time have different loading levels for stacking the vehicles. Since open carriers have the vehicle exposed to the elements, the vehicles loaded on the top level, otherwise called top loading, attract a higher transportation fee than those at the lower levels, because of the risk of damage from debris.
Reliable car shipping companies also give their customers the chance to choose a convenient pickup and delivery method for them. There are two options too when it comes to picking up and delivery; door to door and terminal based delivery. Door to door is more convenient, as it does not involve the owner of the vehicle in the process at all.
The car is picked up at the source and ferried all the way cross country to the new destination. It is appropriate in situations where the vehicle is not in a condition to be driven, like in the case of, say, old vintage vehicles. Terminal based pickup and delivery is different, and in some instances, cheaper. It involves the owner of the vehicle dropping the car at a company terminal. From there, the company has the car shipped to another terminal near the destination, from where the owner picks up the car again.
The best in the business will give their customers the advantage of trained and licensed drivers. A lot happens before and after the actual shipment of the vehicle from source to destination. However, ultimately, the biggest factor in the car shipping process will be the drivers.
Once the trucks hit the road, everything is in the hands of the drivers. It is important, then, that one make sure the drivers they choose for the car transportation process have the right amount of training and licensing, and are knowledgeable on the necessary loading and transportation processes
