The full process of shipping cars
The auto shipping process is long and complex. It involves long hours of driving and transfers. Here are some of the steps you need to follow to ensure that your shipping experience is a pleasant one.
- Planning and scheduling in advance. Planning ahead allows you to slowly sift through the many auto shippers available and pick the one suited to your needs. It also gives the auto shipper ample time to prepare for your car's arrival and shipment.
- Cleaning out the car. You are required to remove all your personal items from your car before handing it over for shipping. Also, remove items such as DVD players and any other aftermarket installations to avoid theft or damage.
- Inspect your vehicle. Clean and note down the condition of your vehicle. Take pictures of any nicks, dents, and scratches to be used as evidence should any disputes arise.
- Ensure low fuel. Make sure thatyour vehicle has only about a quarter tank of gas before handing it over for shipping. Auto shippers charge extra for additional fuel.
- Choosing the mode of shipping. You can either deliver your vehicle to a terminal or have it picked up from your doorstep.
- Securing the vehicle. Your car is then firmly and safely secured on the back of an auto carrier for shipping.
- Transporting your car. Your car is then transported to whichever destination you like.
- Picking up your vehicle or having it delivered.
