How To Ship Your Geo
So the new home is bought, the old one is sold, and what remains is the move cross country to the new abode. At this point many people are faced with the choice between hitting the open road and having their Geo shipped to their new home. Should you choose to have the car shipped, here are a few suggestions on what to look for in a shipping company.
The first thing to look for is the company registration and licensing. The car transport company one chooses must be fully compliant with standards of the shipping industry. Ask about the company registration and licensing. Any shipping company that is truly reputable will be able to provide details of its registration. Whether domestic or international, it will be helpful if the shipping company chosen is associated with industry shipping company professional organizations like the FIDI, AMSA of the RIM. Affiliation with a professional organization means the company will always conform to its high standards.
The second factor to consider when looking for an auto transport company is the loading. Every company offers different loading services, but basically, there are two types, door to door and terminal based loading. Door to door is when the container or carrier is brought to one’s home and loaded on location. Terminal or warehouse based shipping involves driving the vehicle to a nearby warehouse, from where it will be shipped to another warehouse and picked up. Door to door is convenient for the individuals with busy schedules, or those that have vehicles that are not in drivable condition. On the other hand, one might find terminal based loading cheap if they have the time and resources to drop and pick up their vehicle at both ends of the journey.
With the technology available today, there really is no excuse for any shipping company not to have cargo tracking services. It could be regular emails, a code to check on an online portal, or a mobile application. Whatever the case, the only go for a company that has the courage to let their customers know where their goods are. However, users should remember that some companies charge an extra fee for this, while some companies include it in the final fee. Ask the company representatives for details of their charges.
The overall cost is another element that should be top of people’s minds when they search for a shipping company. It is widely accepted that any good car transport company should be able to give upfront quotes to their clients before they make the contractual commitment. Even if the company is able to give quotes, ask for additional details on what the quotes are inclusive of. Do they include insurance and the cost of tracking? Are there any additional or hidden charges over and above the contract? With this in mind, one can then make an informed decision.
Our company is always looking to partner with individuals transporting their vehicles long distance. We offer quality service, are fully registered and insured in the states we operate, and provide honest quotes and prices.
