Auto Transport by Truck
Transporting a vehicle by truck is one of the most common and inexpensive ways to get your automobile from one location to the next, no matter how near or far it must go. Whether you’re shipping your car to the nearest state or across the country, you can certainly take advantage of auto transport by truck. There are many auto transport companies throughout the U.S. that offer this type of shipping service.
When you start looking for the right transport company to ship your vehicle by truck, make sure they offer a variety of services that meet your needs. For example, depending on where you’re having the vehicle shipped through ground transport, you’ll find local, state to state and cross country shipping services offered. You’ll also notice that some transporters offer high priority services which usually include expedited and guaranteed deliveries. Use the Internet to narrow down your options. Make sure the transporters you’re considering carry positive qualities such as a good reputation and the proper licensing.
Types of Ground Transport Services for Automobiles
Ground transport is conducted in a couple ways. A shipping customer can have their vehicle shipped inside a freight truck container or atop a car hauler. Most car hauler will ship 10 to 12 vehicles at a time, whereas a freight truck container will fit a vehicle and some of your other belongings inside. Another alternative way to ship is by having your vehicle secured to a flatbed truck or trailer. It all depends on what the transport company offers.
If you decide to ship your vehicle on top of a car hauler or trailer, this is referred to as open air shipping. Open air shipping is the absolute cheapest way to ship a car. This method is typically recommended to those that plan on delivering their vehicle a shorter distance. The vehicles transported through this method are left susceptible to inclement weather and other outside elements. Fortunately, all licensed transport companies are required to provide insurance coverage to each of their customers. This assurance even makes open air transport more appealing to dealerships and manufacturers who tend to ship multiple vehicles at once.
For those who prefer more protection for their vehicle or have other items to ship along with the vehicle, an enclosed shipping method might make more sense. This method may be a little more expensive but it comes with more advantages. It is especially useful for anyone relocating seeing as it allows you to ship more than just your vehicle.
