Who Should You Invite To A House-Warming Party In A New City/State?
As you pour a glass of wine, relax on the couch and take a sip, you feel elated knowing that you have unpacked all moving boxes. The house looks much better now with everything in its place. You look around and nod in satisfaction. The TV, home theatre, dining table, coffee table, carpet and even the sofa are all in place. The moving company was kind enough to bring additional loaders. Looking back, it was a smooth transition. However, your space feels empty. Since you came, you have been seeing the neighbors around chatting happily and their children playing noisily. You wonder how you can approach them and make the first steps towards friendship.
What you need is a housewarming party; the best way to invite, entertain and get to know your neighbors. However, you face one major setback; who do you ask to come for the occasion? Check out these tips and get the party started.
The best idea is to approach the people you know, your buddies. These are individuals with whom you have shared the high and low moments in life. If anything were to happen to you, they would be the first ones to show up and lend their support. In any case, have they not asked you to grace other events in their lives too? Therefore, get rid of the ‘moved to a new neighborhood’ blues and send invites to these guys.

At the minimum, you spend eight hours of daytime with your workmates. From Monday to Friday, January to December, you are interacting with colleagues. Why would they not want to celebrate the move you made to your new home? Imagine the look on their faces when they see how beautiful and spacious the house looks. Perhaps they used to visit you at the previous location and can tell the difference. Let them come for a celebration.
When you visited the area for the first time, no one noticed. Maybe you were in the company of a realtor, lawyer or homes inspector. You finished your business and left. This time around, you have moved in and are a member of the community. Therefore, take a stroll around and greet the neighbors. As you do so, invite them to your housewarming party. Tell them how pleasant it would be to have their company as you get to know each other better.
With the stress of packing and loading your possessions into a moving truck behind you, settling into the new house comes next. Nonetheless, you cannot go quietly like that without a little show-off. Organize for a party, just a simple one to highlight your property and meet your next-door neighbors. A successful and exciting housewarming event should have a mix of new neighbors, close friends and workmates. Since you have now become a part of their community, having people you can depend on is essential. As a rule, only invite those colleagues from work that you would expect to welcome you if the reverse was the case. Also, consider whether you would gladly attend a similar event.
