Have questions about auto transport? A-1 Auto Transport has the answers you need:
What’s the difference between a broker and carrier?
When you need to book transport it’s important to know which company you would rather use, a broker, or a carrier. A broker doesn’t own their own carriers but they do have access to potentially thousands of carriers that may be in in the area you need to have your car picked up or delivered. The rate may be a little higher because the broker will need to be paid and sometimes it can take a little longer to schedule service, but using a broker can save you time and assist with finding a reliable, insured carrier. A carrier, on the other hand, will own their own trucks and they may be able to offer a lower rate. Depending on how many trucks the company owns, a carrier may take a little longer to schedule transport based on whether they have a truck in your area during the time that you need service.
Can I call the day I need to have the car picked up to schedule transport?
You really need to start calling companies no less than two weeks before you need to have the car transported. This gives the company time to schedule a carrier and have all of the paperwork filled out.
Do I need to have my own insurance coverage for transport?
All motor vehicle carriers are required to carry insurance for the cars they haul. It’s never a bad idea, however, to have a private policy of your own when at all possible.
