When you are undertaking a move, there are a number of things that you need. Obviously, this includes things like an essentials bag to be used overnight and during your first day or two in the new home, as well as things like food, furniture, and appliances. In addition to all of this, you need to bring a few more things. Here is some of what many moving professionals would consider being essential items.
Complete Tool Set
Moving day can be tough. Even if you aren't the handiest person around, having a nice set of tools can come in very helpful. Things might break and need immediate attention. Even if you are able to call a professional, this might not be the ideal scenario given all that needs to happen during your move.
Be sure that your tool set contains all of the essentials. This means, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers of different sizes and shapes. Hammers and nails and screws and even various drill bits might also be useful in a pinch.
You should expect to do some cleaning immediately upon reaching your new home. Even if the old owners did so, it is still helpful and having so little actual items in the home makes this the perfect time to actually reach areas that will be impossible to clean later. Be sure to bring with you:
- Mop & Bucket
- Broom and dust bin
- Paper towels
- Rubber gloves
- Cleaning solutions/sprays
Bedding should be kept in a separate box or bag that comes with you for the first night. It is actually considered as part of your essential items since you certainly want to sleep and having things like pillows, sheets, and blankets will be needed in order to do so. You may even want to consider bringing an air mattress just in case the movers are late delivering your furniture. It beats sleeping on the floor.
The first-night menu might very well be Chinese take-out or pizza, but you still want to have items needed in order to get the kitchen established. This will help you to be able to start cooking and eating your own food soon, which will make things feel more like home.
Kitchen essentials include a number of items. You will want to have some disposable plates, cups, and utensils for the first night. Also, include some basic pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and glasses. The kitchen is quite likely one of the first rooms that you will want to unpack and set up.
After doing all of that work, a good shower will feel great. So be sure to bring all the soap, shampoo, and deodorant that you will need. Don't forget a shower curtain and other essentials like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and toilet paper.
