Tips On How To Pack Fast

Tips On How To Pack Fast

Truth be told, people are incredibly busy these days. Between taking care of the household, shopping, kids, main job, side business and social life, people are left with very few hours to sleep. It is no wonder that most people find themselves with only one or two days to pack before a move while experts recommend 6 to 8 weeks at least. Not to despair though, packing fast within a short period is still very possible.

Here are some tips;

Get all your packing supplies

Whether you will buy, borrow or gather them from your basement, make sure you have everything you need to pack so you don’t keep rushing to the store to get supplies. These include enough boxes, tape, wrapping paper, bubble wrap, scissors, marker and packing paper. Gather all the blankets you need to wrap delicate items with and put them on standby.

Assign a packing zone

Instead of filling every room with boxes, pick one room or station where you will do all the packing. This will not only make things less messy but you will also be able to see your progress as that room becomes full. Assemble boxes in that room before you start packing and line them up with all the protective supplies as required.

Separate essentials first

One of the things that really makes people spend a lot of time packing is going back into the boxes to get something they need. Before you begin packing, get everything you will need for at least two days; place these items in an overnight bag and set them aside so you don’t pack them in boxes.

Get help

You will need all the help you can get to get your packing done within the set timelines. It’s time to rally up the troops from neighbors, relatives, friends and even colleagues. Alternatively, if you have the budget for it, you can hire professional movers to pack for you and it will be done in a matter of hours.

Pack room by room

Trying to pack up the entire house at a go will not only create a real mess but also make you very confused. You will spend a lot of time moving from room-to-room in search of stuff. Instead, start with one room, label the boxes according to the owner of that room and start packing there until you are done before moving to the next.

Dispose as you go

The more things you have to pack, the more time it will take and also it will be more costly. Though you may not have enough time to first separate items for disposal, make sure that you dispose the ones that you don’t need as you go. You can assign one box for that purpose so every time you see something; you just throw it in there.

Packing fast requires tactic and a plan so you won’t just be going around the house doing nothing. Consider hiring the best moving company to help with the packing.
