The Best Generators Available For RV Camping
There’s a lot to consider when choosing the right generator, most of which has to do with your preferences and power needs while on the road. As we all know, many of the best places to park your RV for a getaway do not come with hookups, especially the more remote destinations sought out by more experienced RV campers. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the best generators for camping with an RV.
Some of the most important things to keep in mind when shopping for the best RV generator:
- Size & portability
- Fuel efficiency
These are all things that are common sense if you’re going to buy a generator for RV camping, but there are different kind of generators and some are more appropriate for camping than others. Inverter generators are smaller and more portable, making them the primary choice for most RV campers, and the type of generators we’ll be reviewing here.
WEN 56200i - One of the more quiet generators on the market, the WEN 56200i has a four stroke engine that produces a steady voltage of 1600 watts. Because of the low noise factor, it’s considered one of the best options for outdoor or RV camping. After all, there’s nothing quite as grating as a loud generator churning away while you’re trying to enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors.
The unit itself is lightweight (just under 50 pounds) for easy portability and comes equipped with both plug-in outlets and USB ports. There is also a fuel saving mode, referred to as “eco-mode,” which throttles back the motor to maximize fuel efficiency. The fuel tank is one gallon and can operate at full power for up to four hours or six hours in eco-mode.

Honda EU2000i - One of the classic portable generators made by Honda, the EU2000i is a compact and lightweight generator that still packs a punch. It’s both quiet and fuel efficient and, like the WEN 56200i, makes about the same noise as a quiet conversation when in full use. Weighing in at just over 45 pounds, the EU2000i can operate for up to 8 hours on conservation mode or 3 hours at full capacity, all with just one gallon of gas.
It should be noted that there is also an EU2200i, which produces slightly more power than the EU2000 model, but with the same portability.
