Located in Torit County, the city of Torit is in the southeastern part of South Sudan. Torit is close to the border along with the Republic of Uganda. It's approximately 93 miles east of Juba, the capital and the largest city in South Sudan.
If your visit to Torit is intended for a longer period of time, you may want to consider bringing over your personal vehicle so you can get around without the hassle of public transportation. As South Sudan has no indigenous car manufacturing industry, imported vehicles are expensive and it is cheaper to import your own car from USA. Having your own vehicle there is just more convenient. While traveling through South Sudan, you will notice that there are most roads are not paved but they are consistently being worked on and improved.
Auto import regulations in South Sudan.
When you are ready to export your vehicle from a port in United States, you will want to know how much it costs so you can budget for it. No matter why you are bringing your vehicle over to South Sudan, you will most likely pay high taxes. It's highly recommended that you contact the South Sudan Customs Service (SSCS). to determine what their rules and regulations are for importing. Some of the most common document requests include:
- Proof of ownership.
- Your driver's license.
- Your vehicle title.
- Your passport.
- Vehicle registration.
- Proof of Insurance.
A method of Shipping.
There are three different shipping methods to choose from; air shipping, container shipping, and roll on/ roll off. You will need to determine the right shipping method based on your budget as well as your needs.
Air shipping is the most expensive way of shipping your vehicle to Yambio, the closest port to South Sudan. The price is very high so most people choose not to use this method.
Container shipping is another option of shipping. This method uses a container that is either 20 or 40 foot in size. It allows you to place your vehicle and personal items inside the container before it is sealed and loaded up onto the deck of the ship. You can decrease the cost for you on a container by splitting it with someone who is shipping to the same port.
Roll On/ Roll Off shipping is often the method of shipping chosen because it is more affordable. This shipping method allows you to only have a spare tire, a car jack, and the floor mats inside the car while in transit.
South Sudan doesn't have direct seaports because it is surrounded by land but, you can ship your vehicle by freight ship and it will be delivered to the closest port, Yambio. You will need to pay your taxes owed for importing before your application can be processed. Contact us today and let us help you.
