This is a Francophone town located on the Espiritu Santo Island in the Province of Sanma in Vanuatu. It’s known for its picturesque green hills and sandy beaches as well as the well-established snorkeling activities.
Furthermore, there is a significant Catholic mission in the town of Port Olry, which makes it a dominant Catholic region.
Vanuatu has its location east of the country of Australia and it’s filled with tourists all year round. Regardless of the reason for which you are staying on the island you are going to benefit greatly if you have your own vehicle. You can travel freely and commute at a pace with which you are comfortable with. There is a limited access to public transportation on the island and if you import your own vehicle you would be able to travel a lot more freely.

Documents and Expenses of the Process.
It is, indeed, much cheaper to ship to the island of Espiritu Santo than it is to any other island nation. As per the local laws and regulations, the tax is based on the value of your vehicle. With this in mind, 15% is the baseline for the duty it could go as high as 40% if your vehicle has an engine with a larger capacity than 3000cc. The VAT is set at 12%. The documents that you need to prepare include:
- Address and name of the car owner.
- Description of the vehicle.
- Original Invoice.
- Title Deed.
- Registration and Insurance.
It is highly advisable that you talk to us when preparing the documentation in order to ensure that you haven’t missed anything which might cause significant delays. You can connect with the Embassy of Vanuatu to know more about the process. It is important to be aware of the fact that only left hand-driven vehicles are allowed, but if you are importing a right hand drive vehicle, you will need special permission.
You have two shipping options in front of you. The first one is the Roll-on/Roll-Off method. It works well but you wouldn’t be able to ship any personal belongings with you. You have to leave ¼ of a gas tank full and empty out the vehicle entirely and leave only the car jack, floor mats, and the spare tire. Container shipping is your other option and it’s more appropriate if you want to ship additional household items. You will have an entire 20 ft. or 40 ft. private container for that.
