You will also need to make sure that all paperwork is completed and filled in accurately along with the proof of insurance. Once the Mongolia Customs Department has all the paperwork needed. You will need to adhere to the Bill of Lading on delivery. Pay your import duty as well as any taxes due, which is determined by the calculated amount if they were to resell your vehicle. This documentation will help to ensure proper ownership and is necessary for customs clearance. You will need:
- Owner passport.
- Title to the vehicle.
- Original purchase invoice.
- Insurance certificate.
- Provide proof that you have owned the vehicle for at least six months.
- Import only a personal vehicle, no commercial.

Before proceeding, you should contact the Embassy of Mongolia to get the latest on regulations of importing. Mongolia is a landlocked country so there is not shipping ports available for importing. Options of freight shipments.
Shipping methods include the Roll On/ Roll Off and container shipping. The most affordable way to ship is the Roll On/ Roll Off shipping because the vehicle space on deck is all that you pay for. If you choose this method of shipping, you cannot leave anything inside the vehicle. It will be driven onto the deck of the ship and then driven off once it reaches the port in China. Before your vehicle can board the boat, you will need to have it steam cleaned and leave only the spare keys, floor mats, and a car jack behind. If not, your vehicle may be quarantined.
Container shipping is a popular choice if you want to bring over other items in addition to your vehicle or you want to protect your vehicle. You will choose either a twenty foot or forty foot container. This container will offer even more protection to your vehicle and seal in any personal items you choose to bring with you.
