The largest city of Togo is Lomé, situated on the Gulf of Guinea. Lomé is well known for being the industrial center of Togo and hosting the number one port in this country. Togo is considered a part of West Africa.

It offers warm tropical climates throughout the year which provides excellent agricultural opportunities for residents there. You can always find something to see and do when you are in Togo but, you may find that public transportation is not always available.

If you plan to move to Lomé or you want to visit or go to school, you may want to consider importing your vehicle there as well. This will give you the freedom you need to get around the country side and see or do what you want. It’s important to note that shipping your vehicle to Togo is not easy to do but with a shipping agency like A1 Auto Transport, you will be able to follow regulations and address any issues that occur.

Importing your vehicle to Togo.

When you are ready to import, you will need to know what documents to bring with you. Make a couple of copies to carry with you and include:

  • IE462 document.
  • Passport.
  • Letter of authority from the South African Bureau of Standards.
  • Verification of employment including how long employment will last.
  • Vehicle registration.
  • Proof of residency.
  • Proof of education in Togo (if you plan to attend college).

While it may seem like a lot of paperwork to provide, it’s important that you have these papers with you and that A1 Auto Transport is also given a copy of all paperwork in order to avoid any delays. These rules and regulations may change at any time so always know before you go.

Public Transportation Issues in Togo.

Because public transportation is very hard to obtain, buses and taxis are not going to be an option for you. This could cause a problem if you want to make it to school or work on time. Taking a look at the roads in Togo, they are all paved and maintained well enough that you shouldn’t run into any issues while driving however, it’s important to note that when a dry spell occurs, it could cause cracking on the roadways and this could cause pooling in those cracks. You may also find mud after a rainy season which can hinder driving as well. You want to travel safely at all times in order to avoid any damage done to your vehicle.

Shipping details.

You will need to be in Togo before your vehicle is shipped out, it doesn’t matter if you choose Roll On/Roll-Off shipping or container shipping. It’s also important that all paperwork is included with your shipment to avoid any delays.

You can choose which port you want to export your vehicle out of in the United States but, there is only one port you can import to in Togo. This process should be handled with care and avoid any delays or procrastination of paperwork. If you need assistance, get it. You want to stay organized throughout the importing process. Be sure to keep all documents organized and ready to show to Togo Revenue Authority (OTR) upon request.
