These documents will need to be submitted by way of the shipping service providing the shipment to the Panama Customs. You will be able to pick up your car either at the Port of Cristobal, Port of El Puerto de Bocas del Toro.
You can determine ahead of time how much the freight charges will come to along with the custom duties and other taxes will be figured in once your vehicle has been cleared at the port. The costs of shipping will be the only cost you will need to get your vehicle aboard the ship. To determine your shipping rate, you will first need to decide which method of shipping you want to use. Roll-on/Roll-Off method is the more affordable means of transporting your vehicle. Another option to consider is the container shipping which is more expensive. You will also have to account for Panama custom and excise tax which is approximately 30% of your vehicles CIF value.
If you want to ship over some household goods, you can place them in the shipping container with your vehicle and ship everything at once. Containers come in two sizes; 20 foot or 40 foot. These shipping containers are expensive. Everything is secured and sealed inside the container for the transport. If you select the Roll on, Roll off method, your vehicle will be driven onto the deck of the ship and then harnessed on so it doesn't move during transport.
You cannot place any personal belongings inside the vehicle while it is being transported using the RO/RO method. It must be clean upon arrive, empty, and locked.
