Ship an Automobile to Kharkiv from the United States
Kharkiv is a city in Ukraine. It is the second largest city and it's located in the north-east. With many sites to see such as Freedom Square, museums, and scientific centers, Kharkiv is a very desirable place to be.
Whether you are going there to stay a while for study, or are moving there for work, having a personal vehicle will be handy in this large industrial city. With paved roadways that are well maintained, it is easy to travel locally.
Vehicle Shipping Methods
When you decide to ship a vehicle to Kharkiv, Ukraine there are a few ways in which you can go about doing so. Air shipping, RO/RO shipping, and container shipping are the three main methods of vehicle shipment. However, air shipping is quite expensive and not many can afford to go about shipping their vehicle this way.
RO/RO shipping is also referred to as the roll on, roll off method. This method is the least expensive way to ship an automobile. The vehicle must be empty with a few exceptions. The only items allowed in the car include a car jack, a spare tire, and the floor mats.
Container shipping allows a person to ship other belongings as well. The container and the vehicle can be filled with any items allowed by Ukraine Customs. There are two different sizes of containers to choose from and the remaining space in the container of your choice can be shared with another individual. This will help lessen the shipping cost for you.
Documents Needed and Requirements for Vehicle Shipment
There are requirements that will need to be fulfilled and documentation that will need to be presented to Customs prior to vehicle shipment. Below are some of the requirements that must be met.
- Import duty must be paid and will depend on the age of the vehicle and the size of its engine.
- Any vehicle over ten years of age is not permitted into Ukraine.
- Title and Vehicle Registration
- Proof of Purchase
- If the vehicle was gifted, a notarized affidavit is needed
- License or Picture ID
It is always best to contact the Embassy of Ukraine when planning on a vehicle shipment to Kharkiv. They will inform you of all current policies for a vehicle shipment.
