Many people from the United States have relocated to Croix-des-Bouquets recently to provide aid to thousands of refugees displaced by the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Traveling through the small coastal town requires a personal vehicle as there is a lack of public transportation in the city. With more than 5000 new homes built in the city within the last year and new ones under construction currently, the housing market has been booming and it is not difficult to find affordable housing in the city. Whether you’re relocating to provide medical relief, education or just moving for more personal reasons, you will need to hire a reputable automobile transport company to handle shipping your automobile for you. Services provided by a professional international automobile shipper makes having your car to use in the city simple and efficient.
Automobile Transport Services.
When you contact the professional staff at A1-Auto Transport the representative will ask you some questions about your car, including the make, model and year. They will also need to know if you have modified the car in a way that would alter the weight or height. This is very important to know when they are scheduling your car for pick-up and delivery. Carriers are designed in various sizes and when cars are loaded on them the size needs to be accurate for transporting the car. If your car is large or a size that has been changed from the stock size, the carrier will need to be structurally correct to haul the car. You also need to let the representative know if your car is not in running condition. Cars that do not run need specialized care and will need a different carrier than running automobiles are transported on. Generally, when a car is not in running condition it will cost more to have them picked up as the driver will need to lift the car onto the carrier for transport. Your representative will go over the content of the shipping contract and will gather some basic information from you such as your driver’s license and social security number to identify you as the car owner. You will also need to fill out a Power of Attorney form to give legal permission to the carrier to transport the car for you. Once you have determined the type of transport needed to relocate your car and have fully discussed the contract, your representative will be able to give you a total quote for shipping and will schedule the car for pick-up and delivery to the major shipping port nearest you that provides service to Croix-des-Bouquets.
Types of Shipping.
Shipping a car to Croix-des-Bouquets is simple to do when using an ocean route to ship. There are two ways to ship via the ocean and those ways are RORO, which is short for Roll/On Roll/Off transport. This is the most common way to ship a car internationally and is used by millions of automobile owners and dealerships each year. Cars and other motor vehicles are driven onto RORO ships, secured for transport and then driven off the RORO ship when they reach the destination. You will need to prepare the car for transport by cleaning out all personal content including paperwork. Your representative will go over other preparations including fuel and fluid levels, battery charge and disabling car alarms prior to shipping out. If you have a highly expensive or classic automobile, you may prefer to ship using container shipping instead of RORO. Large shipping containers, usually 20 or 40 feet, are loaded with automobiles as well as household goods for shipping overseas. Container shipping costs a little more than RORO as you will have to pay a container fee, but it makes relocating internationally quite easy especially if you need to pack other items inside of the car during transport.
You will have to abide by the U.S. Customs regulations for exporting automobiles from the United States, as well as Haitian Customs regulations for importing an automobile into the city of Croix-des-Bouquets. You may import new and used cars to the city as long as they are within five years of age. You will need to provide customs with some important paperwork including your passport or visa, driver’s license, duty exemption paper if you own a public business, and the sales invoice for the car. Missing paperwork, even one page, can result in the car being delayed for import clearance and you will be responsible to pay storage fees that can be very expensive depending on the amount of time the car must be stored while waiting on the proper paperwork to arrive. Taxes and duty fees must also be paid and the amounts can range from 5% to 20%. Tourists importing cars must also pay a 10% tourist tax when importing a car to the city.
