Passports and Living abroad in the United Kingdom
As a citizen of the United States moving to the United Kingdom, it’s a relatively easy transition. Initially the only thing needed is a US passport. There isn’t a need for a VISA until you’ve spent six months of residency in the UK. Of course, there are conditions that apply. Depending on the circumstances, you may have more leniencies regarding your stay in the UK. It is best to talk with British Embassy to learn about the stipulations and foreign policies.
Applying for a US Passport
Applying for a US passport isn’t difficult but it takes time to obtain. You must fill out an application form, have a current photo ID, and show proof of citizenship. All passport fees must also be paid in full. Once you have all of this prepared, you need to prepare your passport package. The package must include your fully filled out application minus your signature, have your passport photo taken, copies of your photo ID, and your payment for passport services. Within 3 to 4 weeks, your passport should arrive in the mail at your US address.

Living in the UK
Living in the UK as a US citizen is surprisingly not too hard to adjust to. Even if you come to the nation looking for a job or to further your education, you’ll find that there are a lot of opportunities. The UK is the rated second to the US for its education system. It’s economy also continues to grow, making it a very promising place to reside.
Finding inexpensive residency and employment shouldn’t take long, especially if you do your research. Don’t be afraid to mingle with the locals. Networking is perhaps one of the easiest ways to learn about your new surroundings and what’s available. You can also check out local newspapers and UK websites to find out about job openings and other points of interest.
