New Year, New Home.

Throughout my life, I have moved to a different “home” each year since I have started school in elementary school. I have lived in Orlando, Miami and many parts of Naples, Florida. We were so used to moving that it just became a day and a half process for us. I know what you’re probably thinking, “how were they able to move everything so quickly?” Well, we would have a lot of help considering my family has three cars and the moving truck that we always rented.

When moving from Orlando to Naples, my family faced the challenge of transporting two cars and the moving truck to Naples, which is about four and a half hours from Naples. At first, my parents were always reluctant to rent a moving truck considering, they did not know who would drive it. The choice was either to get a moving truck and have a random person drive our furniture and personal and valuable items. OR make multiple trips of four and half hours, back and forth, in which my mom and dad would both make alone while I stay home with my brothers. Which was not a good idea because I was so attached to my mom at age five, and it would result in me in crying until she gets back.  The second option was not a very good one they determined. So, of course, the five year old me said “I CAN DRIVE IT MOMMY AND DADDY” and you could pretty much guess their next response after that. They both started immediately and simultaneously laughing. Little did they know, I was being serious. Of course, their answer was a loud “NO” followed by more laughter. So I just went back to my room and watched the television. As I was watching T.V, I noticed an advertisement for a car transporting company, so I eagerly ran to the family room and turned on the television in there for my parents to see it. They both excitedly jumped and ran to get the phone so they could call and get the cars sent to Naples for us.

Without car transportation companies, many families with younger children would not have an appropriate and safe means of having their cars sent long distances with moving. If it wasn’t for car services like that, many families would have to be separated for maybe two days at a time, as parents drive their cars long distances to a new city or state. Even though we had car transportation services, that still did not stop, the now “eighteen-year-old me, from asking “CAN I DRIVE THE CAR TO OUR NEW HOME MOMMY AND DADDY”.
