Cameroon International Moving Services
Relocating to a new home has never been easy. Nobody wants to leave friends and loved ones and move to a new place where everyone is a stranger. Moving to a new country is even more difficult. The relocation process is long and tedious and there’s the fact that your family and friends won’t be close by.
How Much Does It Cost to Move to Cameroon?
The cost of moving internationally to Cameroon can range anywhere from $2,000-$12,000 depending on a variety of factors such as the size of move, total distance, route, transportation method, and current market trends.
It can be costly to move to an international country like Cameroon. So we know you want to look for all means to reduce costs. You can reduce costs by packing your belongings yourself, and your moving company would only have to inspect your moving boxes.
You can also use the opportunity of moving by getting rid of unwanted things in your belongings. It will help reduce the cost of your move. Also, you can use the port-pickup service instead of choosing a door-to-door transportation method to reduce your moving cost. Other factors increasing moving costs are:
Customs and Taxes
International countries require that you pay taxes and customs duties on all your items. This depends on the value of your belongings.
Your International moving company staff members should be experts at offering input on what to expect in Cameroon since they have been through this process before.
Moving Insurance
Insurance is an essential part of your moving process as this would ensure that your belongings arrive in Cameroon in good condition. In cases where any of your belongings get damaged, lost, or stolen during transit, insurance would cover it. Whatever insurance you would get for your belongings should be worth the value of your belongings. Please do not rely on your moving company's insurance as it might not cover some things. So, you must know what their insurance covers.
Storage
There are several reasons why you would need a store for your belongings. First of all, you would need a store if you're not making a permanent move and would like to keep your belongings somewhere till you return. You would also need a store even if you're moving permanently as you may need to keep some of your belongings in a safe space till you're well settled in your new home. The bottom line is that storage would also cost you extra money.

Import duties charged by Cameroon customs
If your household belongings were purchased at least six months ago, and you’ve been personally using them during this time - they can be imported without paying duty. You also must have lived outside of Cameroon for a minimum of the last 12 months, in order to be eligible. If you do receive duty exemption, then you’re not permitted to sell, let others borrow or get rid of these goods during your stay.
Exemption is only possible if your destination agent has all paperwork a minimum of 2 full weeks before your goods arrive in Cameroon (1). Another source has this time frame at 4 weeks instead - so verify with customs which will apply to your shipment (2). Also, the main customs office in the country must issue you a Certificate of Free Entry. Finally, even if duty exemption is granted - you’ll still pay the 2.5% tax that customs assesses on shipments (3).
Paperwork required by Cameroon customs
To successfully clear your shipment through customs, you’ll need to provide your passport and a complete packing list. A separate inventory (with values included) must also be submitted, and this should bear your signature and the date (and be written in French). Your Original Bill of Lading or Air Waybill, and a Certificate of Change of Residence are also needed. Finally, an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note is required (4).
Import duties charged on your vehicle
Sadly, no duty exemption is offered, when shipping your vehicle to Cameroon. The actual duty rate differs due to the year of manufacture and the engine’s power. One reputable source asserts that you should expect to pay roughly 60% of the vehicle’s CIF value (5). Another source guides that 2,000 cc’s of power or less will incur a 58% duty - while vehicles with more power will pay a rate of 77% (6).

Import regulations enforced for your vehicle
A number of regulations apply, when bringing your vehicle into the country. For starters, the vehicle must be included on your packing list. Your Original Bill of Lading is also required to list the make, model, year it was made, size of the engine and the VIN number (7). The engine and chassis numbers must also be included (8).
Paperwork required for your vehicle
Some documentation is required when importing your vehicle, including the registration (from your origin country). You’ll need to show ownership of it as well, so any paperwork that serves this purpose must be included. A copy of your insurance policy and the vehicle’s final destination inside the country must be shown. Finally, a purchase receipt, invoice or Bill of Sale that lists how much you paid, where it was purchased and the date is required (9).
Moving requires attention to detail, and the above list isn’t exhaustive. You’ll need to give customs a call before relocating, to determine what forms and regulations will apply to your specific shipments.
