You’ll also need to show your tax exemption form, along with a request letter written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, asking that your shipment be granted clearance (3).
A valid visa, which you can obtain from the consulate in your origin country, should also be presented - as well as transit permission (if needed in your situation). A Resident Visa from the Ministry of the Interior, and a Work Permit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also required. Be aware that the company you’ll be working for within Afghanistan, must apply for you (as you cannot apply for it directly) (4). Finally, a packing list or detailed inventory must be submitted to customs - and this should list the monetary value (5).
What are the duties and paperwork for your vehicle?
Reputable sources don’t specify whether import duty for your vehicle is charged at this time (6). You will, however, need a list of documentation in order to bring it into Afghanistan. Before proceeding, the first item you must obtain, is permission from the Ministry of Commerce in Kabul (the capital city). You also must submit all the same documentation required for your household belongings - along with the original purchase receipt or invoice and the VIN number (this should be on your Original Bill of Lading or Air Waybill) (7). Finally, your title and registration from the country of origin must be provided to customs (8).
