Local Moving Cost
The cost of hiring a moving company for services tends to intimidate most people looking for help during relocation. So when it comes to a local move, they may choose to carry out the relocation alone. However, this isn’t the safest, cheapest or most efficient way to relocate, even locally. In fact, hiring a mover is in your best interest. Using experienced movers to help you with your move is the safest, cheapest and timeliest way to complete relocation no matter the size or distance.
Calculating the Cost of a Local Move
On average, hiring movers for a local relocation cost around $560 to $1,000 for a three bedroom house. The cost of a move is determined by several things. The distance between both locations, the weight of stuff to move, the amount of labor needed, the current cost of fuel, and other small matters will affect your total cost for local moving services. Until the job is completed, it is hard to say what you’ll pay for professional moving assistance.

It is possible to get an estimate for your moving services by calling the moving company or using the mover’s online calculator but these are roundabout figures. They’re better used for comparison purposes when searching for the right moving company. Otherwise, to get a true cost for your local moving services, the movers will need to weigh the truck without your stuff on it. They’ll then weigh it again after it is loaded so that they can subtract the total weight from the weight of the truck. This is then referred to as the net weight which is what the movers use to calculate the cost of services.
Licensed moving companies are required by state law to provide each of their customers with some insurance protection. Each state sets the minimum requirements for the amount of insurance that moving companies must provide. This is usually around $0.60 per pound of a customer’s belongings. Of course, this insurance coverage is better than having none at all. When you choose to move on your own, you won’t have insurance to protect the value of your things.
Some moving service customers prefer to have full insurance coverage. Since this is often requested, many movers will let them purchase full coverage through their insurance agent. It’s best to have full coverage especially during commercial or long distance relocations.
