Shipping a Car to Houston
You can use the following tips when you are planning to ship a car to Houston, Alaska:
- If you want to get reasonable rates to ship a car to Houston, remember to reduce the vehicle weight as much as possible as car shipping is based on overall weight of a vehicle. If you have removable items such as spoilers, tool boxes or other accessories, be sure to take them off before the car is picked up to help lessen the load weight.
- Anchorage is the largest as well as the best port city in Alaska to ship a car. Since Houston is so close to Anchorage, this will be the best port to choose when making plans with the transporter.
- Make sure that the insurance coverage is adequate for your car. While all auto transporters must carry insurance it is always a good idea and often recommended, to make sure your own private insurance will cover the car while it is being shipped.
- You need to be physically present or have an authorized adult present when the car is picked up as well as when it is delivered. The transporter must complete a vehicle inspection for the Bill of Lading and it must be signed for insurance purposes by the vehicle owner or a person authorized by the owner to sign.
