Frankfurt Motor Show: Five Hot New Cars Debut

In just over a month, the largest car show in the world will commence in Germany.  On September 14th, the International Motor Show, or as it is being called this year, the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show will open, and car manufacturers from all around the globe will come together to show off their latest and greatest passenger vehicles (even years are reserved for commercial vehicles).  As with previous years, some of the most hotly anticipated 2018 models will be unveiled to the public for the first time.  The following are just some of the most exciting new cars you can look for at the show.

Volkswagen T-Roc – The brand’s smallest SUV to date, this model fits just below the Tiguan in terms of size, and should fill a conspicuous crossover gap in the Volkswagen current line-up.  The concept was originally introduced at the Geneva motor show back in 2014, but it is expected to make it’s official debut just before the Frankfurt Motor Show on August 23rd.  This pocket SUV will begin production this year, but most likely won’t hit US markets until 2018.  Expect to see the T-Roc in all its glory at Frankfurt soon.

Porsche 911 Speedster – Based on a throwback design similar to the 356 Speedster, the collectible that still has Porsche fans enamored, this new model hints at the same classic style, a manual convertible, a chopped windshield, and distinctive rear hump.  Expect this 991.2-generation to also offer some mechanical upgrades and top-notch technology, unparalleled to previous models.

Mercedes-AMG GT – This brand new four-door GT is rumored to have a hybrid powertrain setup with a 4.0 liter biturbo V8 and electric motor which can combine to generate 805 horsepower.  This flagship system is called EQ Power + which Mercedes just recently trademarked with their Formula One team.  Similar to the GT’s racing big brothers, this vehicle can be expected to operate in much the same way as a hypercar, with runs of 0-60mph in under 3 seconds.

Jaguar E-Pace – Although Jaguar already officially released their compact crossover at a London show in July, you can expect to see their new concept at Frankfurt as well.  Smaller than the extremely popular standard-sized SUV, the F-pace, and sister to the I-Pace, an all electric version, the E-pace is bound to be a hit, and again, is much needed as their lineup has been missing a compact SUV style for quite some time.  Of course, a Jaguar release wouldn’t be complete without setting a record, so be sure and check out the “Furthest barrel roll in a production vehicle” video below.

Audi A8 – Audi’s new A8 is exciting due to the sleek and impeccable design, but even more so because of the Level 3 autonomy.  What is this technology you ask?  The A8 will include the Audi AI traffic-jam assist, which allows the vehicle to operate autonomously at the push of a button in traffic up to speeds of 37mph.  This is an exciting development as more and more we are seeing car manufacturers introduce technology gearing up toward fully autonomous, self-driving vehicles.
