The untouched wilderness and beautiful scenery of New Zealand brings in newcomers interested in receiving temporary and permanent residency every year. The affordable cost of living also appeals to young persons and families looking to live abroad. But before you can move your family from the U.S. to New Zealand, you must first apply for visas pertaining to each member of your family.
To earn the visas you applied for, your family must meet all the requirements and qualifications. Some of the regulations placed include being under the age of 56 years old and that you family members meet all health, character and English requirements set by the New Zealand government. Once you have earned all the visas necessary, you and your family can begin preparing for the big move.
Make the Relocation as Stress-Free and Easy as You Can for Your Family
When moving your family abroad, it’s important to direct your attention to each member as everyone is bound to have different emotions regarding their future in New Zealand. Young children may especially showcase anxiety and sadness since they’re unable to comprehend how the experience will benefit them. To ease the transition of moving to another country as expats, try to familiarize your family with the nation and its culture as much as you can. Visiting New Zealand before you relocate is always the greatest way to show everyone what there is to look forward to, but not everyone will have the time or capabilities to do this.
Use the Internet to search for information and images pertaining to New Zealand. Teach your family about the lifestyle of the natives and show them photos of any places of interest. Tell your children of their new schools and the activities they can partake in while residing there. Try to involve everyone with the relocation process and preparation as much as you can.
A great way to keep the family involved is by allowing them to help with the packing process. To cut the costs of moving services, have everyone sort through their things to decide what they would like to bring with them and what they can go without. Anything that still functions properly or that remains in good condition that isn’t going to ship over can be donated or sold. Holding a garage sale is one effective way to keep your family together in the moving process. This also helps reduce the cost of moving while earning you and your family some extra cash.
As you all continue to pack your things and prepare for your flight, let your children pack their own personal bags to bring on the place with them. These bags should not only contain hygienic items and other such products, but their favorite toys, comfort necessities, snacks, and favorite forms of entertainment that they can take with them on their journey to New Zealand. You’ll find that letting them pack their own bag for the plane ride there will help them to remain more relaxed and occupied during the transport over to the country.
