Everyone wants to have a clean and beautiful looking, fresh-smelling home. Of course, it does require a bit of work and a commitment to be able to achieve such an ambition. Not to mention the fact that a move tends to bring dirt and dust out from the most unbelievable places. And you are probably tired and just want to be finished with everything. Despite all that, cleaning your new house is something that must be done. Here are some tips for doing just that.
Cleaning Makes Things Go More Smoothly
There is no reason to do things twice, so you probably should really consider doing a good cleaning before the serious unpacking starts. Of course, it can be argued that the old owners should have already cleaned, but you want to be sure the home is nice and fresh. This is the best situation in which to start opening boxes and rearranging things since this is bound to cause at least a bit of general disorder for a while.
This also helps to get all the leftover moving debris out of the way. It also helps to ensure that everyone is kept safe since there will be nothing in the way that could hurt you or damage your furniture and/or other items.
Start Cleaning Before Unpacking
Most experts would advise that you wait to unpack until after the first cleaning is finished. This will simply make your life easier and you will even feel better about the situation, knowing that everything is fresh and you can start to enjoy that new home feeling.
Not to mention the fact that without anything in the way, like furniture or appliances, etc... it is much easier to reach everywhere. There is no need to move too many hard to maneuver items out of the way. And the whole house will probably get a much better cleaning because of this.
Have All Materials Beforehand
Although it should go without saying, you will ant to have everything needed on hand before you start. This means items like:

A great rule to follow when cleaning is to start at the top and work your way down. This way, if there is dirt still hiding up top, it will fall down in the beginning and you won't miss anything, or have to double clean certain areas. Follow this method for each room.
Cleaning is also most effective when starting with a dry cleaning, like dusting or sweeping or vacuuming. This gets rid of all the surface dust and dirt. The, do a wet cleaning, using surface cleaners, wiping and mopping. It also allows the floors to dry more completely since you will be exiting the room immediately after finishing.
