Car Shipping Tips
One of the most important aspects of shipping a car is to make sure it is in great condition for the journey. Keep these tips from A-1 Auto Transport in mind when shipping a car to help ensure it stays safe and arrives in a timely manner to the new location:
- Contact with the transporter is very important. You should have a phone number to reach an agent after hours as well as one for the transport driver. The driver should also have a number to reach you in case there is reason to change the delivery location or there may be a delay, or if he will arrive early at the destination.
- Vehicles should be thoroughly clean inside and out prior to transport. This means to make sure no visible dirt is on the exterior and no personal items are left inside the car.
- Car alarms should be completely disabled when possible. If the alarm cannot be disabled entirely, the driver will need to know how to shut it off in case it goes off during transport. An alarm can delay transport and can startle a driver if it sets off while the carrier is in motion.
- All paperwork should be signed and you should have a copy of everything including the contract and the insurance paperwork.
- Take detailed photos of the vehicle prior to the driver loading it onto the carrier. You will want to keep these photos filed away safely until the vehicle has been delivered. Also be sure to use the time/date stamp when you take the photos. If there is any damage to the vehicle when it is delivered you will be able to use the photos as evidence on a damage claim.
