Most moving companies will recommend their moving and packing services to their customers regardless of the type of relocation that lies ahead. Buying moving and packing services only ensures that your items are properly packed and secured for their transport to the new location. When your stuff is packed and moved by professional movers, you can trust that they will arrive at their new home safe and sound.
If you chose to opt out of full packing services, you should purchase the right materials and supplies before beginning the process of packing. The materials should be of high quality as if the mover brought them over themselves. Some movers will even offer packaging materials for sale through their storefront or website. Otherwise, make sure you have box tape, various sizes of boxes, packing peanuts and foam sheets, bubble wrap, marker, scissors, a razor, and other necessary items before you begin to pack.
Packing Away without the Help of Professional Movers
The packing process if one of the most tedious and time consuming parts of relocation. It is wise to start packing away your stuff as soon as you schedule a moving date with a professional moving company. It may take weeks to fully prepare your things for their transport.
A-1 Auto Transport can help you move your household goods nationwide. Call 888-509-3213 to get a free, no obligation to buy price quote on interstate moving services.
Start packing up one room at a time, leaving all of the necessities or daily use items for last or to be packed away in personal bags to ride with you. Leave all other items that are boxed up in the rooms that they were packaged in. Stack the boxes against the walls to give the movers room when they finally arrive. Make sure they’re stacked according to weight and size. All entryways and hallways should remain free of clutter and obstacles that may cause an injury or accident on moving day.
Never over pack your boxes. They can easily bust at the seams if not properly secured and packed up. Use smaller boxes for heavier items such as dishes, books and small electronics. If the movers feel that a box has not been properly packed, they may repack it at an additional cost. They don’t want to be at fault for damaged items which also gives them the right to refuse any improperly packed items. It is on your shoulders to pack according to standard when you decide not to hire professionals for this part of the relocation process.
